Hey all ok so I bought a complete clutch kit of ebay nearly £300 LUK conversion to SMF, I believe It is easier to fit an SMF than DMF. What is a reasonable price a garage should charge to fit the kit to my 03 S3 Quattro?
One other when the new clutch is in it states it should be bedded in for first 1000 miles and not driven hard or slip clutch, whats best way to do this?

thanks.

Its no different to fitting a DMF... same amount of work...

300 quid is quite cheap though... a little too cheap maybe.. there are some cheap SMF kits floating about that have the wrong size clutch plate etc for the 02M gearbox... 02M clutches are normally 240mm... these cheap kits are based on the 02J clutches and are 228mm plates

Plus SMF's make the gearbox rattle on idle... quite badly in some cases...

Would this kit fit an AMK?

Not sure on OPs engine code.

did clutch kit include slave cylinder/release bearing?
new flywheel bolts?
i found that some "complete kits" were less complete than others

not driven hard or slip clutch for first 1000 miles?, easy, just do as it says, relax and drive like an old man for a bit :)

darkside tend to supply stuff for diesels, the linked kit is for a 1.9 TDI, so not sure if it'll be ok for an S3??
It probably has same bolt patterns but may be wrong weight, power handling for an S3
give em a ring, they usually pretty helpful

What about labour cost for garage does 250 sound about right?
Also its a bam engine i have

When my clutch was changed through a garage, they charged me six hours labour and hourly rate was 50 pound plus vat per hour so I think that's somewhere between 300-400.

250 sounds cheap so it might end up costing more.

that's quite cheap online isn't it? They do a G60 Flywheel + LUK Clutch kit for under £200? I am tempted but need to stay off ebay for my own bank account protection, I need to try and only buy bits which are broken rather than replacing working bits.

yeah that doesn't fit an S3 - so ignore my comment. its 228 instead of 240

You got it spot on tuffty this ebay kit doesn't fit garage said the plate is too small and the flywheel teeth are wrong :( so they had to order me a full luk dmf flywheel/clutch kit £££s
