Pretty much as the title says, at first I thought definitely black for my 1.4 s-line but coming on here and reading how difficult it is to live with do I change it? Tight budget and stupid pricing means the only colours I can pick from is brilliant black or the ibis white. My current car is white so I'm used to it but I did want to switch it up, and I'm the only person who's ever washed it so I do take car of my cars any thought or experience appreciated cheers

I had brilliant black on my last Audi & loved it. I enjoy cleaning my car so never found it a chore keeping it up together & it seemed fairly stone chip resistant over the 50k + miles I had it too. I'd happily have white again, but I find it difficult to find a white that is pure white as to my eye they usually have a slight tint of cream etc.

My last car was white so I had a change this time to the black...my next car will be white, black is great when clean, but can be a pain at times. I washed and waxed it last week, before it even moved off the drive it was covered in dust...the same day!

I had Phantom Black on my 8P A3 and loved it but it was a ****** to keep clean

Wanted Ibis White on my first 8V A3 but they removed it as an option, replaced it with Amalfi White (which is not white in IMHO) then introduced Glacier White (too White).

Ibis White is now back as an option (unless its been removed again for facelift models) ...so would say White

hmm...but his current car is white....white is indeed easier to keep clean....I've had 2 black cars ...after the first I said never again....then after the second I said never again and I didn't butttttttttt my they did look good ...and although they do show the dirt...particularly dust...to everyone else it still looks black.......the actual cleaning of black isn't as hard as it seems....just stay away from the sunshine - which shouldn't be too hard to do.....

Your decision is different as you are down to black or white....if I had to draw up a list of favourite colours....black and white would be way down that list not because they are bad colours but there are lots of great colours out there but black would be ahead of white.....your current motor is white...so gotta be black..

i had a white Scirocco just as white came back into fashion....and loved it but I see that as ticked off my list and wouldn't do white again....I saw it at the time as a fashionable colour ...still looks great though...

Obviously you are going to live with the colour for a long time..so it has to be something that you will love and keep loving....is there anything you could sacrifice to gain a colour?....

Someone once told me when speccing a car start with the colour..instead of ending up with being forced into a colour that doesn't really hit the spot.

I have brilliant black - looks fantastic.

For me, you can never get that "wow" factor with a white car.

I had the same dilemma as you, still I went for brilliant Black.
And yes, it is a nightmare to keep clean and it’s scratches easily.
My car had wash from a dealer brand new on delivery day and already got swirls and light scratches.
Next day I decided to go to the detailer and put ceramic protection.
Firstly car was polished to perfection and prepped for ceramic film, ceramic protection had to firm up for a week and since then it is the easiest car to keep clean.
Pure water rinse with mini-wash once a week and PH neutral car soap once a month, car always looks clean and shiny, scratches and swirls are now nonexistent, dead bugs from motorway driving come off easily.
Hope I have helped you, sorry for bad English.

This is my car after ceramic protection application

I had a black S1 and the paint started to come off the bumpers and was chipping on every panel on the car, so that went back and I got a white S3.

I'd also look into getting it detailed and coated.

I find Sonax Brilliant Shine Detailer (BSD) to be particularly good on solid white's

For me, you can never get that "wow" factor with a white car.
Don't know about that mind ;) :D
My old ibis white B8 A4 -

I feel like I'm going to keep it brilliant black. I've always enjoyed cleaning my cars so I feel like it won't be much of a problem and I really wanted a change from white, cheers with the input though guys

I find my current car (white) a pain in the rear to keep clean though, the day I got it brand new it had loads of tiny rust coloured marks all over it, tar remover is an absolute must it's covered in them every time I wash it so I feel it would be the lesser of two evils :/

Both are awful to keep clean, both look great once clean! My last car was white and I wanted either black or white for the S3, it just so happened a Black one came up with the spec I wanted in budget!

White definitely but match with Black Styling Pack as that makes such a difference. If going black then chrome looks good. Like most others I am biased as I have an A3 and a TT both white (one Ibis and one Glacier [because Ibis wasn't available]) and both with BSP.
