Hi

There are two custom exhaust places near me which i need feedback for please so i can get mine done.

EMP Performance vs Fast Lane Styling

Could you please let me know if you have dealt with either and which you would recommend to use or if you know of any other places in the North London Area.

Thanks

Hi there, what do you want to do ? I build custom exhausts out of 316/304 stainless for reasonable prices... Please send me a pm for prices... Cheers

I've had two exhausts made by EMP in the past. One when they first started out and one recently. Build quality is extremely high, very impressive weld lines and fitment. They're also competitive in price too.

What car are you putting this exhaust on ?

The v6 suffers with drone at 70mph, check if yours does. If it does best to avoid custom

Drone is easy to cure with a silencer in the middle, however it's a characteristic of turbo Diesel engines and at that speed the VNT is wide open as the turbo boosts more than the engine needs ! I have an Allroad with a custom made exhaust and 2 rear back boxes, very faint drone at 70Mph for just a split second, whisper quiet otherwise but sounds like no diesel on WOT ! The back boxes are wortex style jobbies, straight trough with no padding, just centre baffle. Sounds great from outside !

Drone is far from easy to cure on the petrol v6, I feel your giving bad advice. the whole point of my testing things is to stop people wasting money, your derv may not drone but a petrol may. I do not know if the 1.8t does drone but better to be sure then blow a few hundred pounds and find it drones.

You need someone with an exhaust on that car for advice.

I had a 1.8t 8L a3, 3" downpipe, decat, 3" exhaust with a center silencer and single back box, it was loud as hell (i quite liked it though), and droned like a donkey on acid. Obviously a different car, and the TFSI engines are different to the old style 1.8Ts but worth noting anyways

I did not mention anything on v6 petrol, to be honest I have done a dual 3" exhaust on my s4 v8 with no precats but kept the valved back boxes-absolutely no drone and loud as funk when you open it up ! If you believe me the stereo is in safe mode for 2 years and never bothered me to put the code back in- I love the sound of the exhaust ! There are ways to cure drone on cars however they reduce the flow and it defeats the purpose !

You gave the impression drone was easy to cure, it's not. Scorpion did months of research to make a drone free fast flow exhaust. Some cars you will get away with others not, I would advise being on the side of caution. Risk your own money but do not risk others. He needs to find out if his car is prone to drone before going custom.

I also used EMP last year for a custom cat back exhaust with back box delete (its diesel so only hear turbo whistle on full throttle, very quiet :) ).
I found them to be very professional, and love my exhaust!
they also offer a few nice extras for diesel drivers on the deletes side ;)

I would highly recommend
