as per thread title I'm thinking of changing, only doing about 8k per annum at the moment. My car is just 3 yrs old and done 20k and is paid for, new car would be on PCP or similar. I would welcome your thoughts and opinions, pros and cons etc.

Thanks

The obvious questions are:
Do you like your car?
Do you want a new car?
What is the motivation for changing cars? Worries about DPF or similar?

Why not look at the new 2.0 petrol. Similar torque

Very similar thread been going about the last few days. For what it's worth, I'll 99.9% go back to petrol next time I change.

Yes I love my car, not that bothered about having a new one. I've not really got a motivation apart from it being new model is being invited to dealers for special event and it appears they really want my car. The deal they offered was poor but I suspect there is lots of room for manouvere, we buy any car offered 2k more to purchase my car.

Have a look at the new 2 ltr petrol. Similar torque to the diesel.

Yes me too, keep hearing the goverment will wage war against diesel owners, although I suspect they've got there hands full at the moment.

Cheers, thinking insurance, fuel and road tax costs to be honest as I'm due to retire in about 2 yrs.
I looked at total costs. Not much in it. Went for the larger petrol even though I couldn't try one. Did test the 1.4 COD and was very impressed.

Thanks, it may be beneficial to test drive the 1.4 cod which may make my mind up. I was happy to stay with my car until the new model was dangled in front of me.

Ah yes, the allure of new shiny things...tough one to resist that.

Working out how much your current A3 has cost you, and how much it will cost you to get into a new one...that will soon reduce the desire!!

Echo what others have said about going up an engine size though. Was in the market for a 2.0TFSI and was worried about going for the S5 for running costs. Honestly there is barely anything in it...
