I posted on here about a year ago asking about the prop shafts on A3 2.0TDI quattros. The anti vibration mount on my prop shaft was split and according to audi this means replacing the whole prop shaft as it is a single part.

After a bit of discussion with Audi they agreed to foot 3/4 of the bill as I only had 55k miles so it only cos me £400.

15 months down the line and another 25k miles it was split again and it was fine this time since it was still covered by warranty so didn't cost me anything.

My concern is that cars shouldn't go through prop shafts that cost £1600 to replace this quickly and I only have another 6 months or so of warranty left before I'll have to pay for the next one! Is there something else that could be causing it? I asked the garage was told I had just been very unlucky!

I have just bought a 2011 2.0TDI 170 Quattro and it had a vibration coming from the back when underload when you hit 80mph.. I looked on line and noticed that they do suffer from this (like driving on the edge of a motorway line)

Its the rear bush that goes between the prop and Haldex unit.. early 2008 you can get the bush on its own but the later ones don't show up on Audi's parts catalogue that it comes separately and you need to buy and new complete propshaft.

People say you can fit the early one but when I checked, Audi do two different ones depending on there vin No.

Only issue I had that there expensive.. about £300

I called GSF and gave them my details and they do one for a lot cheaper, I get trade so I can get a good deal, I paid £100

I have fitted it and its all sorted now.

Thanks, thats definitely more encouraging than a new prop shaft ever time...
