As title suggests, it's getting annoying now. The car is showing signs that are related to a faulty coolant temp sensor. Symptoms are, having to throttle it on cold start to get it to catch ignition. Bad idle etc. But is
a gem when warm. Someone please confirm or debunk this for me please?

Pretty sure when someone more knowledgeable gets here the 1st thing they will want will be fault codes.... so let's just start there as I think there are a few coolant sensor codes ;) have u tried just changeing the sensor, they r cheap as chips and takes literaly 30 seconds, if it's not that it could be your thermostat... just throwing ideas here tho

Fuel pump could be your problem along with many other things. As above get the car scanned for codes.

All codes are clear guys. Checked on VCDS if that makes any difference.

Have you had them cleared lately or are there just not any at all? If it's the latter how long have u had the problems for as they won't always throw up a warning code straight away, mine didn't with my coolant thermostat for about 2 weeks after I noticed things were a bit funny.

Does it play up when starting from warm after it's been left 15 mins etc.?

Codes were cleared. They only came back for steering angle sensor as I'd had it off to replace plastics. And yes as it happens not ten mins ago it played up from when I'd parked up after a drive home. Car was at temp, so this has me thinking possibly fuel pump?

Car's still doing it. I've tested the coolant temp sensor. It makes no difference if it's connected or not from cold. Airflow meter works fine too. I'm guessing residual sludge in pump or filter from when it was stood for 3 years.

What say you?

i should have said earlier in the thread but I've actually had this cold starting issue myself for many many months. when you try to start my car a second time it fires up EVERYTIME. I remember reading somewhere it could be something to do with your Ecu not being in "cold start mode" I read that somewhere, not sure where but no sure if it's relevant.

I've replace a few bits which include. Maf (Bosch) ,coolant temp sensor, cam sensor, fuel pump, lanmda sensor. Coil packs, plugs, coil pack loom, injector seals. There's definitely more. No fault codes either. Car feels really healthy as well. Recent log showed 225 g/s on standard exhaust manifold with stage 2 mods.

sorry for the slight thread hijack

Hmm. If it's coding it would have showed up on VCDS no? Although my factory immobiliser is deactivated and I get the flashing icon on the dash. This could be related.
