Just wondering how long can these engines last?
I have a BAM S3 on 107k, i know thats nothing compared to others but I was just wondering how far they can go. whats the highest mileage S3 you've seen?

Mines in the 160's. My mates TT is over 200k miles. They're German. They'll go forever

Treated with respect and maintained to the highest standard.... They should last a very long time. Very well built engines.

good to know I've still got 50k miles on some of you lot! any difference in the car when you go 150k+ miles
when would you think you'd need a full rebuild, 200k?

Mine is maintained to the highest standard and I've got no problems on 178,000 miles. Even the clutch is the original. Then again my driving is mainly motorway which is better for a car.

Mine is on 174000 now, still on the original clutch, replaced 3 cambelts, most of the miles on my car were on the motorway as well.

Just keep it well pampered with plenty of good quality oil and filter changes, give the injectors a sonic clean with a cheapo sonic cleaner from eBay ( there's a thread on her of how to do it), throttle body, maf and ait cleaning will get running nice and smooth.

Looks like too much boost not enough fuel, or compression to high for the boost levels, which was it bud?

At the time it was stock map ko4 with all the bolt ons. No idea what caused it. I had the injectors checked afterwards.
There's old valve marks in the Pistons so my best guess is hotspot led to massive det.
Happened while pulling through 110 flat out
