Was tempted for S-tronic - test drove the demo at the dealership... Was torn. My WRX was manual, the MPS3 before that was manual.. so figured, manual S3.

Fairly rare to get a manual S3 in Australia too. I did a poll on ozaudi and there is only a handful of us that have them.

Had a MKV GTI with DSG.

Loved the flexibility and fun it offered so updated after a few years to a MKVI R with DSG.

Test drove a manual S3 and was rather disappointed with the box so the choice was easy - S Tronic.

The S Tronic is a marked improvement over the DSG in our R - smoother, faster, more responsive. Given the popularity of them second hand it also made sense for resale.

Lucky enough to also have a manual transmission endowed car in the garage if I ever get the urge to stick shift (which is rare)

Having briefly had an ADS equipped S4 S-Tronic I can say that if/when I change again (maybe an S3 when the offers improve) it will be a manual.
The auto just didn't do it for me. I felt not in charge and I was always arguing with it as it changed up just as I started to part throttle ride the torque curve.
In flappy mode it was fun but a little gimmicky. It's a lot more fun using the stick and another pedal which probably doesn't suite the playstation generation.

To add to the above, a lot of new 'Manuals' are also developing Flat-Foot shifting, upshift crackles and downshift auto-blips.
So all the elements that tempted me try the S-Tronic will soon be available in Manuals.

A number of manufacturers are also starting to re-introduce a manual. So I hope Audi will stop dropping the Manual option from the 'Hot' models.

Question : Would the Porsche Cayman GT4 of won Ecoty 2015 if it were an Auto....probably not, they would of chosen the 911 GT3 RS. Sorry for the 'spoiler' if you've not read the article yet !!!!
