I've attached a picture of what seems to be a crack or scratch in the paint that seems to have appeared on my drivers door of my Misano red Audi A3.

I've recently had work on this door done at a body shop, fixing a dent (at the edge of the door, not halfway down the door panel where this is) and I'm wondering if somehow there has been a crack in the paint? Or is this a run of the mill deep scratch? I'm not sure because I'd have though a scratch would be just the surface, not so thin and fine and not straight through all layers of paint.

Is there any way to fix this without me having to pay for the door to be resprayed?

Looks like it feathers off to the end .. I'd say it was a scratch. Can you feel it with your fingernail ?

Yeah you can feel it when you run your finger over it - it seems to trail off at both ends but it trails off as though the ends start 'behind' the paint, if you see when I mean.

Okay so how do I go about fixing something like this? is it a respray job or is there an alternative?

if you can feel it with a finger nail its to deep to wet sand and polish.

best you can do is picj up a very fine artist brush and with a (very) steady hand build up the paint layer by layer. once dried properly, polish back. you'll never get it perfect :-(
only alternative is to respary the section.
