Has anyone done this I have the drivers side but no passengers it gash! Anyone?

That's very strange, as usually if it has 1 side, it will have the other, but audi can be penny pinchers at times unless its a spec'd option for sides now.

Best option is to ping the existing glass out, plug the drivers glass into passengers, test the dimming circuit by putting tape over the light sensor on the outside of the windscreen, then torch onto the interior sensor on the rear view mirror, you may have to also put your finger over the other sensor that is on the back of the rear view mirror, this will tell you if the circuit is live on passenger side, if so, grab some glass & fit.

It's penny pinching. 8V only gets a dimming drivers side.

Would be interesting to see what connector there is to the glass on the passenger side. I can see this being for the heated element only making this a much bigger task getting hold of additional wiring and removing the mirror. Obviously requires a new glass too. Can't see why on earth Audi would fit this to one side only it's beyond me.

Hold on a minute. Are you talking about passenger wing mirror folding or auto dimming when you put it in reverse?

I think you mean auto-dipping instead of auto dimming. Too much 'auto' gizmos on the cars these days

I'm sure @XR53_DAN will be along to clarify.....

I've assumed this is all in connection with the option 6XK: "Door Mirrors - auto-dimming on the driver's side, electrically adjustable, folding and heated. Also includes an automatic kerb view dipping function on the passengers side when reverse gear is selected......."

My take is @XR53_DAN is asking if you can retrofit passenger side dimming - presumably using a dimming glass from a LHD car?

The reply from @NHN reads as if he is thinking along the same lines as me - auto-dimming on the passenger side

On the 8P both driver & passenger mirrors auto-dimmed - hence my 'penny pinching' comment.

I think 8V0 857 535H 03S is the LHD heated and tinted (dimming) mirror glass - it has 2 spade connectors for the heated element and a connector block to power the dimming function. The wiring harness is fully integrated into the mirror itself and doesn't appear to be a separate item.

At second glance it looks like the harness can be removed from the mirror body and replaced with the correct harness with the additional connector. It's likely that the passenger door module will require VCDS coding once done.

A picture speaks a 1000 words. Connector for heater element is on the left in the blue circle (2 spade connectors) and the moulded plug connector in the circle on the right is for the dimming control ....

Hello, did you manage to retrofit the passenger dimming mirror? I have the passenger dimming mirror ready to be fitted. Just wanted to know if the wiring is already there from the factory or do I need one to be made. Thanks Dan
