Changed the coolant temp sensor the other day , my issue is prior to this the temp gauge sat at 90 all day long and reached this temp in about 5-10 mins. It now only reads 70 and takes forever to reach even this.

I did notice that immediately after changing the sensor the temp gauge was reading just under 90 as normal (albeit slightly less than it was on the old sensor) but like I said over last few days it now only reads 70.

Any thoughts???

Use VCDS and view the live data.

Compare the Engine controller reading to the Instrument cluster reading in VCDS and see if they match.

Why did you change it, and where did you get it?

Got it on ebay for £4.00 :(

i thought it wasnt the sensor that the gauge worked of, I was under the impression the gauge works of a small "sender" . It did on my old vauxhall anyway

The sensor has two sensors inside it. Two of the pins go to the ECU and two of them go to the cluster.

If there was nothing wrong with it, put the original one back in!

You can check the function of the original sensor using the same method i described above, use VCDS and compare the readings between ECU on controller 1 and instruments on controller 17
