I was wondering if anyone has revamped a 99 A3 8L? I recently purchased one and it is my very first project ever. My question is.....where the hell do I start? I expect this is a common question and I appreciate any feedback.

Well I need to fit a new center silencer, now the complete exhaust is as standard but should I get a full stainless steel setup? Sorry if it is a stupid question but I am completely new and I will learn as I go

What I should of said was that I want to refurbish my car into a top performing and great looking (engine as well) model. Im not doing any conversion mods to the bodywork it will purely be a new paint job and all the parts upgrading or modifying.

What engine is it? I am assuming a 1.8t?

The FAQs has quite a bit of info in it to get you going... there is a thread on A3 related mods which you should read first.... this should pretty much get you started on whats doable...

You also need to set yourself a goal power wise and work out your budget... the 1.8t is good for 500+ hp with the right amount of cash thrown at it...

There are quite a few 'build' threads of members cars so rather than repeat all the info thats there have a read up and then obviously ask questions if you need to
