hi all, like a lot of people who order the roof rails just for looks, I am planning on actually using them and getting a roof box for trips away sailing, camping etc. I have searched but cannot find a SB S3 with one fitted, can anyone help?

Also the car is going to be Sepang, so would it be possible to get the box wrapped the same colour or would that look pants?

Got one for an 8p. It's actually a genuine BMW one in gloss black (fits both the S3 and 335d) and was really cheap from ebay and was more for the beemer. Personally I wouldn't waste your money on a brand new one unless its really cheap.

As for wrapping that's a personal choice. I wouldn't bother unless you've got lots of cash to waste as I imagine it would be quite hard to wrap especially as you've got a top and bottom. Its never going to look pretty sat on top of your car so I wouldn't bother trying to 'hide' it ;)

Make sure you get one of the newer ones which has a softer plastic upper rather than an older one with a heavier plastic. Its all about the weight as you need it as light as possible as the bars can only normally take around 75kg.

I got a set of bars thrown in with mine as my daughter likers to go camping but I opted for the ones that work without the rails as I only plan on using them a couple of times a year. Anyone had any experience with these?

Not as cool as that, but I've found the roof box to be pretty handy on the saloon. My daughters buggy takes up all of the boot, therefore we use the roof box a lot. In terms of price, I had a good deal from the dealer as I bought the car prior to it being launched and had been told that the boot in the A3 saloon was the same size as the S3.

See that looks really good, thanks for posting that. Do you mind saying how much it was? I would like the Audi branded one as it finishes it off, still not sure if I should get it wrapped though.

I forget exactly, but I had the bars, the box and the bags for 65% off. It's been very handy and it's pretty solid.

Oh, I guess didn't think about getting it wrapped as the box is grey and sort of matches the car.

Hi.
Thought I share some pics from Northern Norway of my A3 184tdi Quattro with roof box on. The roof box is a packline fx210 and is mounted as low as it gets. I also fitted Xenon extra light for the dark winter up north.

Ps: the VW center caps is Cause by recently switched winter tires with a golf. I now ride dubb tires and the grip is awesome!

Thanks, that looks great and set for a cold winter!!! Can you mount them as high/low as you want then?

If you want it this low you have to have the roof bars trough the roof box. And then you can't get it higher. But if you buy a roof box that you mount on top of the roof bars it goes a bit higher. It's many different bars and boxes ☺
