Hi there,
I had an accident yesterday, decided to share my pain with you...
I was driving with my girlfriend home on saturday afternoon when slowly running old Skoda with a trailer appeared in front of me. Without any doubts I decided to overtake him (I drove about 50 mph), BUT when I was next to his trailer, he turned sharply to the left on the side road (without signal and checking mirrors) and just crossed my way (I live in LHD country), I braked as hard as I could and tried to avoid the accident by turning left too, but with no success and I hit him at about 20 or 30 mph, so I reduced consequeces a little. I drive this road almost every day and I have never seen anybody turning to that that road.
The skoda was in very poor condition (no rear bumper, rust all over the car, NO WORKING LIGHTS AND TURN SIGNALS) and moreover that car was not insured and even not registred.
Obviously it was all skodadriver's faul, so damage on my car will be paid by insurance company.
The driver of that skoda said he was just going for wood (about 2 miles far from his house) and now he's in real trouble, because all of these circumstances like no insurance and so on. I feel sorry for him, he was all the time very polite and he seemed to us like he has not much money to waste... It was whole very unpleasant for me and still is. I wish that guy will recover from these difficulties as soon as possible.
I wish you a lot of miles without accidents!
Hope it is understandable, I am still not an English skilla.

Do not feel bad for him.

The rules have been apparent for years in all sorts of countries.

No insurance - get on your push bike!!

Agree with the above!

He is an adult and was fully aware of the risk of driving an unroadworthy car without insurance.

Feel bad for you :(

I see your point and you're right.
He said, that he has other daily car, insured fabia or what, but didn't want to screw up that car in a wood. My point is that he was super unlucky, he also claimed that his exwife made him some trouble and now he's alone with his young son. It just made me sad...

Sorry, no sympathy for him, glad your all ok but it could be different next time where he could seriously injure or kill someone, accidents happen but driving unroadworthy cars just hightens the risk of someone being injured.

Very dangerous to be driving with no insurance, especially with a trailer, imagine if it was the return journey when it was full of wood, could of been nasty . Dont feel sorry for him, I was involved in an incident with an un-insured driver who drove off, costing me. Hes an adult and made the choice to drive... Glad you OK

If he can't afford to drive don't drive that simple

It will go against you when renewal comes round. Are your no claims protected?

Lucky you and your girlfriend are fine. Don't feel sorry for the other driver.

NEVER feel sorry for him, he made a DECISION to use the unroadworthy car, this incident could have been so much worse, especially if it had been a motorcycle overtaking him

his sob-story is NO excuse for his poor driving skill

you work hard to own your car, he did not care enough because his car is worthless
