Hi Guys,

i own a 2005 A4 Avant SLine 2.0TDi and recently had it revo remapped, now my issue is i think the brakes are not up to it, especially in this weather so was looking at a bit of an upgrade. Also the brakes need to fit under the standard 5 spoke s line 18" wheels

i dont want to go mental but have sufficient brakes, something maybe crossdrilled and some pagid fast pads or something that will stop the car as its a bit more powerful now and i didnt think the standard brakes were top notch anyways.

if you guys can give me some recommendation on parts and reviews that would be great

thanks

Few options really mate....

Just a disc and pad upgradr would help,

Or

S4 carriers and S4 discs is a cheap option if you get the carriers second hand.

Or

6 pot brembo cayenne conversion.
Bit more expensive but a good long term solution lol

what disc and pad upgrades should i be looking at? this is my main question, if i cant find anything suitable i may need to upgrade the lot

My discs and pads are nearly done just managed to get all the bits for an S4 345mm upgrade think something like this will be good enough. There are still some for sale on eBay at the moment "search s4 breakers" and send them a mail. Waiting for discs and pads to arrive went for brembo for both.

Personal I Think just a disc and pad change will not be a significant improvement hence the full s4 treatment! Are yours 288mm or 312 as standard?

thanks, im not really sure they look like 288's also does the s4 setup fit under the 18's and also what exact parts do i need apart from discs, pads, calipers

thanks

Yes they fit under Audi 18"s you need,

Calipers
Carriers
Discs
Pads

I have got the splash guards and braided lines from hel, may as well do it all!

No a cheep thing to do thou front and rear calipers, carriers etc can be £300+, then £200-400 if a refurb is needed "sent away", discs £100-250 and pads again £100-250.

The higher examples are brands like brembo

Think for that money id go for the brembo 6pots, got £600 in the front and £200 in the S4 rears

I agree s4 route is a lot cheaper if you use the second hand discs and pads that they come with and don't have to send them for a refurb, just me being picky.

Depending on how deep your pockets are...I considered the S4 upgrade but when you add up the price of the carriers and all...I thought it was bit on the steep side for my wallet..I just changed all my Discs during the Summer from Mintex ( Which were very poor and where starting to show signs of warping after less than 12 months ) to Zimmermanns undrillled but coated and must say, I am very happy with the stopping power now. I would heartily recommend you check Zimmermanns out price v stopping power wise, I am pretty pleased. Whatever you do stay away from Mintex imho.

Cheers

i had zimmerman's x drilled and vented on the Corrado G60 with pagid fast road pads and they were awesome, the car was running 220bhp and i didnt even need to get brembo's for it. so may look at this route

Well, my bus has the MTM stage 1 ( 240 +bhp ish ) and it's stops fine for my liking much much better than before. Also from an aesthetic point of view with the grey coating on the discs, if you have light coloured alloys, there's a nice classy match too.

No cheek required. My Mate has an account with them, so it was done via him. It's Xmas day here in Sweden so I won't get much sense out of him today....will get the info end of the week for you. Will our discs be the same size? i think it was Ferodo fronts and Zimmerman on the rears. Seem to be fine no squeeking, sticking or weird sh%t from this combo'.

Can somebody point me to where I can get Pagid Fast Road pads for my DTM? Eurocarparts don't give a detailed description for all their Pagid pads available. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

Fraid not. They have cheap brands I've never heard of.

damn thats where i got my zimmermann and pagids from. although they dont list them online i had to specifically ask for them when i called

How much of a difference is there with S4 rears and normal rears? I've got a 170TDI.

I'll be doing the 6 pot conversion on the front after I've paid the card off for the wheels! :)

They are 300mm vented disc rather than standard bottle tops ;-)

Is it only the s4 carriers needed for the front's and not calipers aswell, (remember doing this two my golf upgrading to 312mm with just carriers. And to do the s4 rears again would i require calipers and carriers or just carriers, another question can the s4 rears be done on a 2wd avant or is it a 4wd upgrade only, cheers

S4 rears will fit both 2wd and 4wd. Calipers and carriers are required as the S4 uses a vented disc so the wider S4 caliper is required. I got mine for £150, with 18z's up front the car feels a lot better and balanced under braking.

I swapped my OEM discs and pads for MTEC discs and mintex pads, which I was totally unimpressed by.
When the pads finally gave up, I swapped the pads for EBC yellowstuff. The difference is unbelievable.
I know I have the larger discs as standard but my car is a fair bit heavier, so maybe a pad swap might be a cheaper and easier option, giving you better results.

,

Sl4ve, Checked with my Mate regarding part numbers for brakes. He doesn't have the history of my order, but he has access to their database. Can you confirm your Car's brake PR codes...you can PM if you like. here's a link to what am on about. AudiEnthusiasts Master He can get you the correct part numbers with this code. if you are interested.

Cheers
