In my quest to upgrade my headlights to the facelift one piece valeo's I have finally found a offside headlight. However, it is from a RS4 and therefore its Xenon. From what I can tell the only difference is the main beam bulb holder. Is this replaceable? Is there anything else I need to change?

After further investigation the units look to be identical and that the only difference is the wiring loom inside the headlight (different connector blocks). The bulb holder is just a different design to the other unit I have. Not sure how the beam pattern/focus would be different? Surely Valeo only make one unit which is used for both xenon and halogen?

from what i have read the optics are ever so slightly different. i've got xenon bulbs in halogen headlights and they seem fine to me, but parked next to an RS4 with xenons then they would prob wouldn't look as good. also i'm not sure how you would get a normal halogen bulb to stay put in a xenon enclosure fitment.

I can help you with one if you like.

I have a pair that S4John is having off me as one of the Xenon units he as is damaged and he's having the Halogen units I have as they are the same just the wiring different.

So I'm sure he would not mind swapping one for the Xenon unit. I bet you were the one who out bid me on this on ebay! I was going to have it as a spare.

David,
Perhaps I should change my username seeing as the Quantum is up for sale!

That's not a problem - if the lamps are the same. The reason being I need both l/h and r/h headlamps as both of them have cracks in them. I wouldn't want to put them on the car if they were indeed different. As far as we can tell the actual headlamps and their reflectors are the same - it's just where the Xenon's fit into the rear of them that they are different in that they need an extra section cut out.

David are you able to compare the part numbers on the Halogen ones to the Xenon ones you have on the car?

Cheers,
John

Will look at that tonight,

Did not think you would mind as it would save you a job on one unit plus give you a Xenon that’s if the swap good for you madkebab.

Madkebbab, just told me the bottom tab as been silicone repaired, which is a easy fix if its all there as I did this with mine with no probs. So if all parties are happy (have asked for pic's) I will do the deal.

Sorry John forgot your user name, you can slap me next time we meet.
