hello guys been looking about and found these two cars however im construed which to get the new model (A3 quattro 06model) or the 02 plate S3 both very tidy by the looks for it still need to inspect it im so confused id like some help i am also looking at doing some mods to it. additionally got my B12 suspension for the 02 S3 at home that i was gonna put on my A3 so i can just slap it on the S3 if i were to go down that route. budget is a bit tight for the 8P model though. Advise will be GREAT!

these are the cars

2006 A3 Quattro

2002 S3

Wow the s3 is £11,500 in Australia! You can buy one with easy for £4000 here (6,200 aud)

Blimey they're not cheap!!

That S3 is 3 times more than what I paid for mine after FX. You guys always pay this premium for German/Euro cars??

That aside, do you want 4 doors? If so the SB is obviously the better option, also a much more modern car and the engine will map to about 260 BHP which puts it kind of on par with the S3 mapped. The 8P has a more refined ride from my experience of owning both, but apart form that not a lot in it.

yeah i know they are heaps expensive however, ill be going to check the car out im trying to get it for 15,000$ hopefully i can strike sumthing and sell my A3 01 model. the price is a rape :p

if you are not mechanically minded i'd get it inspected by audi before you buy it

as for putting a3 suspension on an s3, i dont think it would fit unless the suspension was designed for a quattro a3

i'd get the s3, the good thing about oz is there's very little rain and no road salt, which means the car should be in 10x better condtion underneath than the cars over here at the same age!

I would get the newer car personally out of the two, if you already have an 8L A3, time for a change. If you test drive both back to back, I think you will be shocked on how well an 8P A3 handles out the box compared to an 8L S3. I personally think the 8L is the better looking car, and well, it's an S3!, but for a AUS$3k difference, surely the newer car with lower kms is better value?

Entirely upto you of course, it's your money at the end of the day.

hello guys thanks for all the input i got the 8L S3 as i also love the shape as JOJO said, however now the issues i have with it, its abit oily near the bellhousing and the sump and the oil sensor on the sump is also oily however id didnt see any oil drops where the car is usually parked another think is a hear a clunking noise of the engine intermittent every couple seconds, wanted some advise at all a mechanic checked it out and said it was from the engine itself whether bottom or upper i don't know! just want a easy fix for this its a AMK engine besides that there is abit of an exhaust rattle i feel not sure though when u start or accelerate. i can post a video to get you guys to hear it. i would appreciate anything to allay my fears. ill be also putting pictures up shortly. as for my A3 just had to put new Hubs pads and discs on the rear end ****** 925$ job
