Just had a call from Camberley Audi to say they would like to carry out some warranty work on my car, the lady that rang could only tell me it was 'an engine ECU update........'

??

Anyone able to shed any more light on this at all please.......? I havent reported any issues personally..........

It's just to make sure your ECU has the latest version of the software on it. The only thing that would make an update an issue really is if you have your car remapped, ..in which case an ECU update would wipe the map. Otherwise it's nothing to worry about. :)

Who mapped your car? Speak to them first, and see if they will re-apply the mapping after the update. Thats what my tuner said he would do, FOC.

Remapped when I got it. I was thinking of getting it remapped again by MRC Tuning but decided to leave it for the time being. Am I missing out by not getting this update done? What does it rectify specifically?
Lets say i go and get ECU update done, and the remap gets wiped, then later I go and get it remapped again, then subsequently get the map taken off will it return the the ECU updated version in question? If you can follow that? I havent worded it well!

correct me if i am wrong but a remap over rides the original program so therefore there is no original to update the remap as already done that

There are various parts to the ECU. A tuning remap will only affect the driving side of the car, ie the engine. a dealer remap could cover anything covered by the ECU.

MMmmm?? SO, I guess just ask audi if what they do will affect my remap? But then even if they so it wont, sometimes numpties end up doing a job and my remap could get lost?
