I'm off to test drive a 53 plate BMW M3 later this week with a view to buying it. 32k miles, sat nav & dvd, 6 disc, harmon kardan. It's got SMG so i'm not sure I'll get on with it but can't wait. If SMG is right for me then I'll be having it!!

I'm not sure what to do with the A4 though because I don't really want to get rid. But the M3 does everything the A4 does and since i'm only getting 32mpg on the A4 diesel I don't mind going to 20-25mpg on a 343bhp petrol!

The audi has been a great car. It's had plenty of problems in the last 3 years but it's running superbly now so seems a shame. It's one of those things where you buy a car at a certain mileage and take a hit on all of the maintenance issues to do with age and mileage, spend a fortune on worn out parts etc. then decide it's time to sell

Over the 3 years i've owned it, it's had new intercooler, cooling fan & radiator, cambelt change, then another waterpump & cambelt change, new injectors, various suspension bits replaced.

Likelihood is that it's going to be PX but if I were to sell privately what do you guys reckon it's worth?

2.5tdi Quattro Sport, Votex kit, 130k miles, Bose & 6 disc changer, stainless twin exhaust, 19" RS4 reps, HID kit, cambelt done 10k miles ago.

Has had a front end repair in 2008 (bumper, bonnet, headlight and wing) but looks immaculate aside from a tiny bit on the boot spoiler where something corrosive has got on the laquer.

Cheers!

Nah was just a repair. Slid down a driveway into a lamp post in the snow and hit front corner.

53 plate is too early to be subject to the more punitive car tax levels...
correct, from 2006 onwards for the big tax. tax is same as the a4 at £260

I was under the impression, under the new vehicle tax regs anything after 2001 was affected
For cars registered up to 1973 (I think) there is no tax chargeable. For cars registered up to 28 Feb 2001 (ie up to and including "X" reg cars) there are 2 tax rates: One for cars up to 1549cc and those with 1550cc and above. From 1 Mar 2001 ("Y") to 23 March 2006 there are 11 bands A-K. K band covers all engines with emissions of 201g/km and above so the most you pay is £260.For cars registered after 23 March 2006, K band only exteds to 225 g/km. Then you have l (226-255) and m for all engines with emissions of 255g/km or more and VED for those is 460.Car Tax Bands 2011/2012 | Road Tax Prices UK | Next Green Car
