Just had a response from the mechanic who serviced it. Confirmed that he noticed the transit blocks were all still in place from delivery so removed them. 9 months of unnecessary suffering but how happy am I now!

I had the same dilemna. It appears you access the Bose EQ settings on the latest HUs via VAG-COM, not using the method above.

That's my point really. I didn't think it was worth it to tick the box on the order (£1600) but a decent Tom Tom + bad iPod interface (c£500) vs RNS-E + good iPod interface (c£800) seems much more convincing.
