I have seen a few people in Australia taking issue with this on various Audi Volkswagen forums, so just do some digging on forums and get in touch with those people. Or if you see an FSI Q5/a4/a5 in a car park speak with the owner if you see them.....I did and 2/3 were currently going through...
In most countries Audi seems to stick their 'head in the sand' and get their customers to foot as much of the bill as they dare charge until the bad publicity gets out of hand. If you are really attached to your new car then get Audi to fix it, and if you are charged anything for correcting...
Audi service guy I know, says he has hardly ever seen the PCV valve mod resolve chronic oil consumption issues on A4/A5/Q5 2009-11 petrols. The conversation followed........."clutching at straws"..................."prepare yourself for a rebuild".
...........additionally I don't recall anyone...
Yes I hear where you are coming from with high expectations, but my expectations are set from my experience having owned Audi's for the last 15 years. In my experience, the quality on models after mid 2000's has steadily gone downhill in build quality and reliability. This model being the...
I am not sure I would say an expectation for maintenance costs on a family car lower than £2500 per annum and engines not to blow at 60k miles due to high oil consumption as particularly high expectations....
Yes, I agree, its ridiculous. If it was supercar you may forgive it.......
Funny thing is we have a TVR Tamora as the fun car, a risky choice you may think, a reputation for its high cost of maintenance you may think, a reputation for unreliability you may think.
Well in 8 years it has costs...
Great thread, an addition for you guys who have slightly different door cards e.g 56 plate sportbacks
Remove trim around central locking switch. No best place to start, just go easy with a plastic blade. This gives you access to upper torx bolt.
Upper face of door card pocket, has a hole in it...
A review recently posted in Autotrader based on my experience.
Any other UK owners had similar experiences with this version of the B8?
"Good Points - Looks good, good fuel consumption
Bad Points
1. Oil consumption - piston rings burn out around 60 to 80,000 miles leaving you with very large...
Not from what I have heard.....
Doesn't the A3 just specialise in oil pump failures ;)
Wow if you think of it if Audi '***** up' they don't do it by halves....................pistons rings, oil pumps, stretched timing chains............
Maybe when they call themselves a Premium brand they are...
Well you did very very well, most traders we spoke to (in the south) would not even offer on our car (and showed me the paperwork for all the previous disastrous Audi petrol trade ins they are currently having to get Audi to do piston upgrades on) The one, and only one, that would offer, offered...
Well Audi A4/A5/Q5 FSI Oil consumption issues have now been broadcast on Radio 4 'You & Yours' today.
If enough feedback, who knows maybe watchdog next.
Posting your experience to BBC maybe the best way of resolving your oil consumption grievances and getting Audi to do the right thing and...
So we all know about 2009-2011 A4/A5/Q5 1.8/2.0 TFSI's with CDN engine codes suffering from oil consumption issues.
So what actually causes it?
From what I have heard it is piston design leading to oil scraper ring failure. In particular the proximity of the ring to the gudgeon pin.
Well...
1) Pistons, rings, conrods (£2k). If block is knackered then new engine (8k). Audi parts discount 70-100%. Labour 22 hrs at 120+/hr Approx £3k. May get 50% discount if you are lucky (95-100% labour discount if under warranty, bought from them, serviced with them and you are wearing your Audi...
