Would you believe it.... Just getting ready to sell my 97 A3 1.8T and I started hearing a strange noise from the front of the car. Just investigated and have found one of my coil springs has snapped! Anyone know where I might be able to get a used spring from as I dont really want the hassle...

Rich Mine started doing the same thing the other night! I can turn the compressor by hand (not sure if thats supposed to happen) and am still getting cold air when its on but the vibration is very bad, you can see the belt tensioner vibrating when its on and not when the compressor is off...

Does anyone know how to tighten the pulley on the A/C compressor? Mines just come loose, think the compressor may have siezed but I want to try and tighten the pulley before I cry to much Has this happened to anyone else? Mel.

Can anyone recommend somewhere online to buy some APR brake pads? Looking back through previous posts they sound suitable to use with standard disks and have had a good right up Cheers, Melman.

Not sorted yet but do have some more info.... Took the throttle actuator off the car on saturday and stripped it down. Not much in there really, just a motor and a fancy potentiometer. Gave it a clean (although it looked spotless) incase it was sending a false reading and then put it back on...

Just picked car up from dealer without having repair carried out and they didnt charge me for diagnosis! That was a pleasent surprise!

Cheers for the info Audi Girl. As yet there is no warning light and the car seems to be driving as normal. I am going to pick up the new thermoswitch soon so I will see what happens after fitting!

There is a plastic undershield but mine is pretty damaged and was told once that if I replaced it, it would only happen again very quickly!

It has crossed my mind. How much did that set you back Audi Girl?

Over the last couple of days my 1.8T has started to idle strangely! After going up in the rev range and then taking my foot of the throttle (clutch down or out off gear) the revs drop to 1400 for about 5-10 seconds. They then bounce down to 850 and then fluctuate between 750 and 1000. Not sure...
