hi tuffty,
thanks for your help, you are a legend.
i am thinking the same thing now, wiring fault or split hose.
somthig i did not mention before is that the fuel economy is about half what it should be when it misfires so its dumping a lot of fuel somewhere.and i did notice it was whistleing...
the coli packs are oem from audi.the old ones i had were in there for 2 years with no issues at all.
it runs rough all the time but it is intermittent.when it does start without the misfire i can drive it normally for about 10 mins before it starts to misfire.does not seem to be load related or...
helllo,
yeh thats worth a go.think my mechanic friend owns a 1.8t a3 so should be able to swap them and see if its cured the problem.i would be a bit sorprised if it was coil packs as they were done less than a year ago.at least if that is the problem they should be covered under warranty.
hello all you S3 nutters.
got some issues with my S3 at the moment.
intermitent misfire and engine management light flashing, runs really rough and huge loss of power.
initially only lasted for 1 minute then returned to normal.that was yesterday, today its worse and does it nearlly all the time...
got home yesterday, went to shift into reverse to get onto the drive.gear lever got stuck in reverse.managed to get it free again but now only have 1st and 2nd gear no other gears at all and seems to be in gear when the gear stick is in neutral!!!
i have been reading all the gearbox posts on...
hi audi nuts,
ive got a really odd one here for you.
what is the part number on your S3 tool kit,i mean the polystyrene part, the number is on the underside.
i was just loking at that, seems a bit tricky but shpould be able to do it.only thing is you cant change it from variable to fixed service so will need to do that on diagnostics.
but you can reset it manually if you do the oil change yourself.
sorry mate i did not mean ignore the it when it says its due, what i really meant was keep an eye on the mileage and ensure it gets done at least once a year or 9k even if the indicator says its not due.
agreed,avs is crap.
i dont have any diagnostic equipment so i will try to reset the service indicator manually, sure i remember reading about how to do that somewhere.
like you say though so long as you change the oil regularly you can ignore the service indicator.
thanks for your help mate,very...
hi tuffty,
sorry mate was just trying to justify the cost of the longlife oil, which is obviously not worth having even if you do get more than a year out of it.
i will certainly be going the fixed service route and it will be changed every year, roughly at 5000 miles.
good to know from your...
elo mate,
i thinlk that both the oils are fully synthetic.the standard oil is 5w40 and is good for up to 12 months.the more expensive longlife oil you can use for up to 24 months and it is 5w30.like i said previously the longlife oil is not worht having unless you are getting over 12 months...
cool, thanks.have just checked them out on the net.good places to get parts from thanks.
deffinetly going to go the fixed service route and save some money.as i said have never got more than 5ooo miles between services any way, coincidently about 1 year apart so its not worth the extra cash for...
blimey mate, you are getting a great price on those bits.is that the longlife oil or the standard stuff?
have not heard of tps, where are they?do they specialise in audi s3.i want someone who really knows a lot about the car to do it.just puts my mind at ease you know.
any way as i said the car is...
ello,
i will be visiting audi soon to query this, when i have an answer from them i will post it on here.what on earth are they doing with that extra litre of oil i wonder.
yeh aps in brackley,i hear they are really good with s3's so i will be going there soon.
cheers.
