I'm quite late to this thread but have the same problem with A3 8P front seat comfort.
So is the conclusion that A5 front seats are a decent improvement & not too difficult to fit ?
Thanks
John
Guys - just to confirm, the chains & tensioners are at the back of the engine so on the A6 3.0TDI you're working down the back between engine & bulkhead ?
Great thread BTW, good work by all the contributors.

Guys, my heated rear window and heated mirrors have stopped working.
The amber light in the switch still comes on. I've checked fuse 25 (30 amp) and it's ok.
Any ideas where to start ?
Thanks
John
Injector failure on the 1.6TDi is a common problem. Most often the coil goes short-circuit. You can try cleaner but don't hold your breath.
These injectors usually come out fairly easily, although you need to release them in pairs - each clamp secures two injectors.
The wiring is not inside...
Full marks for perseverance, most folk would have given up years ago.
The bottom line is that a 2008 2.0TDI with 150,000 miles is not worth much.
If it's now running OK, I'd change it for a later A3 with the common-rail engine, these are much more reliable than the earlier 2.0 TDI.
If the tensioner failed on a TDI when the engine was running, you are near certain to have bent valves as a minimum - sorry. Worth removing the head to assess damage before committing to a repair.
Assuming the car is a facelift 2008 onwards, the bulb is a PS19W.

Quite an unusual bulb, the bulb & base are one piece.
The fan for the internal temp sensor is fitted inside the climate control panel - it sucks air from the cabin over a thermistor which tells the climate control the cabin temperature. The fan and thermistor can get clogged with dust. (that would not account for an intermittent open-circuit...

You really need spring compressors to remove the spring from the strut & refit to the new strut. Try to slightly loosen the top nut before removing the strut from the car.
Although it is possible to remove the lower end of the strut from the steering knuckle with the knuckle in situ, it's an...
I've recently installed a Pioneer double din DAB in my 2011 A3 Sportback. Non-Bose so yours will be different.
However, I did not use the RCA (phono plugs) on the new head-unit.
Initially I had problems with the rear speakers not working, because I had the wrong cable.
I ended up spending £80...
