I would look at one of the new Koni FSD damper sets for around £400, firm on smooth roads and comfortable on uneven roads, best of both worlds if what they say is true.

I have recently noticed a smell of exhaust fumes under the bonnet of my 1998 A4 1.8 T Sport. It smells strongest on the opposite side of the engine from the exhaust manifold, which made me rule out a leak from the exhaust system itself. Any ideas, recirculation pipe leaking or something?

A-Haa. The default baud rate was set to 9600, I reduced this to 4800 (in device manager) and voila, values found and I was able to set my car up the way I wanted, no problem. Hope this helps reise and/or others.
