Question about replacement clutch kits...

Hi Rabbit - the part number listed on my invoice from AmD is: WC141881864999502.
Hope this helps !

I didn't go for the single mass flywheel Shaun - far too hardcore for my liking. They rattle a lot, are very unforgiving and can affect the speed of gear changes. TobyCruse (on here) has one.

I got the Sachs uprated clutch with an OEM Dual Mass Flywheel - the combination recommended to me by AmD. It's perfect. The clutch itself is harder but has a much more satisfying "bite" to it. The dual mass flywheel makes the whole thing silent and easy to live with.

Cheers mate. I have tried to locate the part as per your part number and havn't had much joy over here:shrug:

Dont get the single mass fly wheel! The clutch system wont like it and it will slow your gear changes massively! AmD is currently talking with Sachs about the single mass flywheel and the fact it doesn't work with our clutch system. Sachs are being less than helpful and saying that the slow changes are due to "driver error".... ****** cheek....

The other thing to add is that there are 2 Sachs clutch kits knocking around. One is, apparently, being fitted by dealers as it is harder wearing. But that is not the kit I have - which is a performance clutch. The clutch I have would be too heavy to fit as a standard item in the sense that the average driver would probably complain about it being too stiff. Make sure you get the right one. Try giving Shaun at AmD a ring - AmD Essex - he fits these kits all the time (he did mine and Toby's) and will know exactly the part number to order.

Just another point when I spoke to Saun about this very thing he said the actual Sachs clutch upgrade they use is intended for the Cupra R, this may help you locate the parts numbers as he did say they don't list one for the S3.

A nice and very knowledgable bloke as recommended by Iggu.
