Okay guys, tell me what you think.

I have managed to haggle and get an Audi stealers to quote me £750 for the 60k variable service, haldex oil change, cambelt change and water pump. What are your thoughts guys. Other local stealers were after over 1k.

Is it worth it?

What have you guys paid?

Thanks

I reckon it's worth it if you really need it done at a stealers. The bill could easily be nearer 500-550 at an independant specialist at a guess....

I just had exactly that, plus the tensioners and thermostat, done just last week by APS in Bracknell and the bill was £550 all in.

No complaints, done in 5 hours, and they even lent me a Passat to go home and back...

I had other quotes from other local specialists, which were all well over £600. Midland VW are even better value, but a bit far away for me...

Cheers,

I had my cambelt and water pump done yesterday by my local garage. £330 all in, im quite pleased as it would easily be double that at audi.

Cambelt - £400 tops
Haldex - £100
Service - £100

Try Awesome in Manchester. I reckon they'd charge about £500

im having my cambelt and water pump with a few other bits all in £450

Im starting to think that £750 isn't bad for a stealers.

Need this done myself as its on 63k and no sign of it in the history. Haldex however was done at 36k. Will get some prices tomorrow.

Meh, so gonna need that too. May just get the cambelt and haldex done by a specialist, and do the service myself. How hard is the haldex?

I had my work done at Midland VW, they were brilliant, had the car in and out in a flash, done the cambelt, waterpump and fanbelt, £270 - if i remember correctly.

I would go there, its not going to cost that much to get here and have a day out in Brum on the money you just saved getting it done at the stealers.

Kef9 - I had mine serviced at awesome recently and can recommend them. In fact, it was the best experience I've had with a garage, and I've had dealings with several during my ownership (Audi & independents). Awesome have a 15% servicing discount on at the moment as well (till end of July I think).

Why take it to Audi? 9 times out of 10 they're less knowledgeable than an independent specialist, a full set of Audi stamps in a service book just shows your a mug and you've got more money than sense!

You dont get a better service from Audi but if you insist on taking to a main stealer then Stafford Audi are pretty good and charge £275 for a cambelt service on an S3, they have special deals online through their ebay store

id agree with nilz. i have taken my car to midland vw and jody is a top bloke, know his stuff and takes his time to explain things to people who dont understand e.g ME!! . the prices are good and let him know your a member of audi sport.
