what car should he get for £1k

hi a friend of mine will be getting a pay out of £1k for his ol banger.
he is looking at a vw bora
any other suggestions really got to be german

Anything from the VAG group would do so don't dismiss Seat or Skoda.

Gutted, sounds like a nice cheap saloon type would suit then. So any of the above would see him right I recon.
Deffo don't rule out the octo's my last 3 co. Cars have been octavia's and we'v had way less problems then we did when in passat's

dont think he wants a estate or that size engine with electric everything, as he says he wants less spec (electrics) to go wrong. He needs to keep his costs (insurance,fuel) etc

he certainly is a really nice guy i honestly dont know how he coped. known him for over 20 years, He is on the verge of going bankrupt also. passat looks best for value and quality for the money. He used to have a older passat years ago and had good luck in that.

Bad news just got the letter from his insurance price they gave did NOT include the £450 excess!!!!
so now he will sadly only £550 somehow will have to scrape together another couple hundred quid
