Standard tyre size

Right, I'm meant to be picking up my B6 Avant tomorrow and I know it needs 5 new tyres. However, I haven't been able to find out what the size of the tyres are. Can anyone help?

It's a 2004 04 plate Avant Sport with 17 inch alloys. I'm hoping that's enough information!

I 'think' they would be 225/50's but I'm not 100%.

I thnk it's 225/45/17... or for winter tyres you can go for 205/50/17.... both radius's are the same spec.

Check the "Size and Spec" tab on the Toyo (link) site - just try to keep the diameter around 24.9"-25.4" and it should about right.

I think OEM is 225/45 with the 17" alloys, but I know a lot of people use the 235 width tyres: it's the same width as the S4 spec, has the same diameter as the S4 (25.4" v 25.3"), so your speedo, etc will still be fine (it will be pretty much EXACTLY correct versus under-reading slightly, as they're supposed to).

235mm will be fine and will probably be slightly better (alloy-kerb protection and better grip most of the time), but it will probably cost a bit more.
