The balancing has been out on my Golf for a few months now. It originally started after having two new front tyres fitted, the familiar vibration through the steering wheel at 70mph+. I took the car to National and had the balancing checked, they said it was slightly out and sorted it.

I still had the vibration through the steering though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif. Back to the dealers /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devil.gif the car went as I thought that maybe the suspension was bent or something else more serious. They gave it the all clear and recommended getting the wheels looked at by a specialist who has equipment that allows the wheels to be balanced whilst they are still on the car.

Question is does anyone know of one of these specialists in the Manchester/Lancashire area? If not then maybe just a reliable tyre dealer who I can trust to balance the wheels properly the old fashioned way.

Cheers,

Christian

AmD have the full laser beissbarth thingy - that's where I took mine when the Audi dealer told me it was fine.

Then I took the printout back to them to prove it wasn't fine !

Jo,

As much I'd like a trip to AMD it's a bit too far away unfortunately. Thistlewaites in 'Peter Kay' land on the other hand is a definite possibility, I'll probably give them a ring. Any idea on price? Thanks Matt.

If you have aftermarket alloys, make sure that the spacer rings have not been lost. If one is missing no matter how well balanced your tyres are the wheel will bounce like a bu66er!
