Hi People,
I've got a 1997 A3 1.8T and turning from left to right on certain roads (usually up or down hill) cause the steering wheel to feel a cracking / creaking sensation / noise. I've done both Top Mounts, shocks, ARB, Drop links, Track rod ends and CV Joints... both front arms were done also. I'm wondering what to change NEXT!!!
I have checked and there isnt anything wedged within the column like a pen or something stupid!!! There is also knocking which makes the same creaking through steering over uneven road surfaces...
Any ideas would be appreciated....
Quick TIP for anyone getting there clutch done... Make sure the people who do it, do the ****** drive shaft bolts up tight otherwise they work themselves loose and then the bolts break causing driveshalft to fall off! - Just ordered new part from the stealership (about £50) as the bolt hole threads are now shafted in the gearbox... mechanic denying all responsibility.... happy days eh?!
Cheers...
