OY!!!:gun2: :keule: Scott......im 41! Bought my S3 cos I didnt want a big old barge to drive around in! LOL!!

I'm 17, its my first car got it passed down the family from my grandad when he died. My grandad did all the mods for me before he passed away.
sorry for your loss mate, but jeez 17 i thought i would be one of the youngest! Im 19 and ive had my 2001 facelift s3 for about a month now and so far im loving it the car just not the running costs but hey!

Good work gaz. 19 with a facelift s3... though i was the only 1 :)..the 17 year old by the way was messing around. lol.

oh and scoobyra big respect. its safe to say the s3 isnt a young persons hothatch.. not that 41 is old coz it isnt. as my mum keeps tellin herself, your as old as ya feel. lol.

i dontknow how you guys do it. i thought i wouldv bin one of the youngest at 23 but aint the case. took me 2 years to save for my s3!!!

im 21 and had mine for almost a year now. excellent car but actually thinking of selling up now...:uhm: but dont know if i can let it go....

l im i was 18 when i bought my first s3 (pre facelift) now 19 on my second (facelift) with plenty of mods :).........

Amazing how young most of you guys are! im 31 now, when i was 18 I had a lovely 1.2 green nova with a very classy brown interior....., them where the days!

I'm 21, got the S3 when I was 20 though.

payin 1700 quid in my dads name. think thats reasonable to say im 19 and its fully comp!!

I'm amazed at how you guys can afford to run an S3 at such a young age!

I didn't even buy a car until I was 20. OK, I had my mum's Polo to drive when I was back from Uni during the holidays, but whilst I was in Nottingham I had a bike or used the bus.

I bought a 1.0 Polo for 2.5 years until I started my first job in the autumn of 1996. I started on £16k a year and once I'd paid rent, I could just afford to buy & insure a 3 year old group 10 Ibiza GTi (couldn't afford a Golf GTi).

House purchase in 1999, kit car purchase in 2001 and S3 purchase in 2004 - aged 30. I still think the S3 is quite an expensive car to run and I'm earning a pretty good salary. Good luck to you guys, but just remember, it's all good borrowing money, but you have to pay it back eventually!

no ive got 2 years and get no claims as a named driver. I dont no how people can say how we afford cars like these. ive been working since i was 16 and in a pretty good job, plus no mortgage, no kids and living with parents!!! easy peasy.......

Yeah true i get no claims being a named driver on direct line..

I don't have any problem running a car, paying rent, paying for uni and living at the same time :D

Luckily I work at my dads garage so I'm insured on the traders policy. Plus I live at home, no kids, nothing but beer tokens and other stuff to pay for. Car is all paid for but i've worked hard for it.

Im 23 and own my S3 outright as well as my Golf Rallye. Their both insured FC under my own name too, in theory I could afford 1 amazing car rather than two boring ones but its nice to have them there!

Ive just been clever with buying and selling my cars, owned Golfs since I was 15 and worked my way up, Im only an Engineer to so not on amazing money and I cope just fine

Im with you on this mate please dont take this the wrong way but do all you young s3 owners have a house to run maybe kids. Il be honest im 26 and a house owner(no kids) and find it hard to do mods to the car. ?

i dont know how you lot can afford insurance, im 19 and pay 1500 fully comp on me 1.6 a3 , i am looking to get an s3 in september i will have to years no claims, and 19 , but got quotes and its like 2500!

I paid outright for my car too. no kids, no mortgage so its not that hard to run as its only driven on weekends. but i am thinking of selling up and investing into property now. but i can imagine having a mortgage and bills to pay it would definetley be hard to run a s3, unless your on a healthy salary ovcourse or a drug dealer...

yeah actually buying an S3 is only half the battle, paying running cost esp if ur gonna use it as a daily drive is expensive esp with fuel prices not ever gonna go down now!!
therefore best save a good bit of money first buy a decent one which hopefully touch wood wont require major surgery instead of rushing too get one and buyin a kipper!!
S3 well worth the money!
so at 21 paying 600 in my own name surley a good price then for insurance
Started off at 17 paying 1100 for a 1.4 ford escort, then 700 for a 1.8 focus lol seems as the car gets better the cost goes down no claims must be worth a lot i never really thot it was!!

31 and only a 1.8T with revo, but I don't owe any cash on it and insurance is £172 full comp. I would like to get something else but only drive 3k a year due to commuting so waste of money, wish I had got an S3 but at the time I bought the 1.8T even an 02 S3 were going for £17k - £18k. Misses wants a ring on her finger as well before I buy a new car and doing up the house drinks cash so I think I will have the 1.8T for a while longer, you lot make me feel old :) but its good to know there is still a keen younger market for the 1.8T and S3.

you young S3'ers im 20 and seriously i dont know how you do it....my main problem is not having enough time to work because of goin to uni and doing uni work...plus I have bad spending habits! I blame london! hehe this all adds up that why i drive a 1.8 Non-turbo and even that is becoming a joke on my wallet to run! However, gladly, I havent taken a loan out or financed on anything up till now!

am 23, was 22 when i got my s3, insurance isnt to bad, under my name with 3 yrs no claim.

and its all my money :)

Im 16 and my dad paid for mine, I drive it with my mum next to me under my provisional license.

The chicks dig it.

you gotta bite the bullet some time. You'll have a shock when you come to take out your own policy, as i did at 20.

Your dad paid for it..?

Your dad bought you a 210 at least bhp car, and you can't even drive yet..?

I think thats pretty reckless.

Either your not from the UK or its a blatent wind up

Bought mine at 20, all in my own name etc, no rich parents!! 21 now with 4yrs NCB.

Also got a 4.6 V8 Range Rover for weekend fun and when i need a larger car :)

ive just registered on the sight to gather info etc... as im literally just about to buy my first S3 !

Im 18... paying on my own and insurance will cost £2100 a year with a £1000 voluntary excess...

and i have to make a few sacrifices for it such as not going out as much etc... ! few less beers here and there !

was planning to move out but now im staying put at home so can afford it................... JUST :D

watch wat ya doin josh. had to sell my first s3 because i got in finacial trouble. on my second now (at 19) and sorted things.... made me unhappy as i had not as much money as i wanted at the end of each month and couldnt buy the things i wanted so sold it.... payed some debts off, bought a plasma tv, ps3 etc..... then missed it so much, realised it want worth it and bought another :)

Wise words, a car is just a car although I know that youngsters these days want the coolest car the can get their hands on. A soon as peripheral stuff like social life, TV's, consoles, holidays start suffering becasue you ***** all you wages each month on your car, you'll soon start wishing you'd gone for the fiesta.

Having an S3 at 18 may be cool, but unless you either have a rich daddyo or an extremely good wage as a sparky or something (you aint been to uni so you wont be on a salary) then whats the point in havign this nice car if you cant afford to go out with your mates in it. it may also be good at pulling the chicks, but they'll soon clock on when you start asking them to pay the friday night meal bill...

food for thought.

also wise words '2low4u' thats y i got rid of the first 1. im on a pretty good wage with next to no outgoings so isnt tht much of a problem now :) as the saying goes 'you only live once' not that practical but you may be run over tomorrow. i no if theres people out there with a big a passion for cars that i have theyd spend every penny on them...... LIVE THE DREAM.
