New special edition BMW's

yeah, Im amazed at how much BMW talk goes on here... its mad.

Coming from BMW's for the last loada years, I cant ever remember being stuck on a forum listening to people go on about Audi/VW yadda yadda yadda

says something doesnt it!

Perhaps, if you can get the word BMW to be catagorised as a swear word, you could get the mods to block any posts with it in, would that make everyone else happier?

Perhaps we should rename this forum as the Audi A3 8P and General BMW Forum.

Or how about this for a wild and crazy idea...

Perhaps if you audi drivers didn't mention BMW at given opportunity they wouldn't come up in every thread

All I can add to this thread, is that I come from owning 2 late bmws (one 130i Msport and a E90 323i) and both cars proved to be TERRIBLE. The shared platform is a dissaster. Maybe the M3 is a fine ride, but in my case, I was terrible dissapointed. Both cars werent "driving machines", and no matter what, the design makes you tired in short time.

My 130i lasted only 5 months....sold it and bought the S3. The E90 had better luck, lasted 1.5 years and was sold for a MKII TT. The only thing I miss is the engine noise on the 130i, but thats it.

I wonder if BMW forums discuss Audis as much as this forum discusses BMWs.
Well said Dave. My view is that there is a serious problem in this country with regard to premium brands; owners seem to get extremely precious about their choices at this level. Understandable, to some extent - most Audi models are going to be over £20k new, and no-one is going to like criticism levelled at your motor if you've invested that much money. Even for me - I bought my Sportback new at launch. But I'm a bit more broader-minded in motoring terms, and about a month ago, I mentioned in a post that I believed the Focus was a better drive than the A3. The petulance of some of the replies was absolutely astonishing.

To get back on-topic, I think BMW's offer is excellent - similar to Audi's A4 and A6 S-Line upgrades they were running a while back - and while it's there to give a bit of life into a saloon that's selling a bit too heavily perhaps, any buyer will end up with a very decent car.

Or perhaps we could keep it as it is and make a BMW section at the Bottom so Bowfer can have an appropriate place to stick his BMW topics. :)

what do you expect from single marque fora?

TBH it's a load of ******, so what if someone slates your choice - you've got the car and they haven't so it's not going to make any difference

sure, I could have bought a better car than my A3 TDI but seeing as I do big miles I couldn't see the sense in investing more cash in a heavily depreciating asset just to get approving nods at the lights

I was under the impression that this is a site for Audi enthusiasts not a bmw forum if I wanted to know anything about bmw or any other mark for that matter I would look on the appropriate web site.I like motorbikes but I don't put up a post every other day banging on about bikes. I do that on bike sites.
For the record I have nothing against bmw indeed (Banging on) I'm taking delivery on 7th of march a new BMW K1200S bike.

So please bmw lovers put your posts where somebody gives a toss.

This thread seems probably the most pointless thing ever. Why someone has started a thread about special edition beamers in an Audi forum is slightly strange, as is the pig headed attitude from BMW fans who refuse to see anything good in the Audi brand and shout down any negative opinion towards BMWs.....and yet frequent an Audi forum?! Maybe i'm missing something but some people appear to have far too much time on their hands.

Spot on I dont see what all the fuss is about for french cars. They need a lot of advertising when new and the classifieds are full of them used. poorly built cheap parts for premium prices bad electrics, poorly designed to work on generally (who else puts a handbrake adjuster under a heatshield which is held on by soft steel nuts which rust) all nuts and bolts rust within months trim just falls off for no reason other than the sun is shining.

Never been a fan too expensive for what they are. Oh iforgot there Chic. and the fashion concious love them till they cost money every month cause somethings gone wrong again. then its to the auto trader you go.

I tend to think that some people need to "grow up " when posting on this forum. On a Ford forum people will be commenting/knocking vauxhalls, as BMW is generally the alternative to Audi there should be constructive comments comparing both good/bad points of each, therefore I would expect a fair amount of BMW threads on here.
Most of us have had good and bad examples of various car brands and in some cases this forum shows that what was once a premium brand (Audi/BMW/Merc) mainly due to cost, has now become available to a wider customer base.
Seems to me that there is much more "tit for tat" comments going on in some threads.
While I am at it I have no problem with anyone putting different wheels/bodykits on their car I find it amusing that some will comment
"not to my taste" etc and others will say "that looks ****", guess thats the joys of the internet.
Last comment, just because you are putting big wheels/bodykits etc on your A3 dont take the p--s out of the nova/escorts you see that are done the same, the only difference is how much Audi bits cost,it can still look just as naff.
PS excuse spelling mistakes :bye:

Very well put Dipstic

I think what some people are forgetting or do not realise is most of us on here have owned at least one audi, even if we dont currently.

It's not like we have signed up here for the sake of it, unlike some members on here who signed up to BMW-sport just to slag off the brand/forum.

Let's face it, the BMW loving mod here thinks he is right just because he has the ability to ban people. You either fall in with his views or you are off. It is a shame because this is a great forum, just badly run.

I know, I'm getting banned for that point of view, cya!

:applaus:

Giving yourself a round of applause there? How clever!:lmfao:

I also like the way people with a hatred for BMW purposefully head for BMW titled threads just to have a pathetic dig. Find something better to do with your time you sad individuals.

Urm - you've lost me on this one, unless you're being sarcastic

I've disagreed with MB (new tyre on front/rear thread) and I'm still here - what's your point?

Should I be banned because I think my A3 is the worst car I've owned because its made out of macaroni and cheese held together with a bandaid?

Looking at some of the people on this forum it would appear so

Are you saying that only those that want to have a love in with their Audi's are welcome?

Ah its a bun fight.
Think the poster aka Bowfer will be laughing his socks off at lighting this match.
Its a joust fest.

Who cares. Personally we either all enjoy our cars with minor niggles or you bought a premium brand that turned into the ugly duckling. It happens.

He's a banned user that keeps re-registering under different usernames...

He thinks it was because I disagreed with something he posted

heard someone say this the other day and thought I'd ressurect it for this occasion

There's Burk!

Hi there Marriedblonde.

Ive got a few points i'd like to air with you, and I dont want you to view it as a personal attack (thats right, breathe in).

Firstly, let me get this straight, im not anti BMW and aint a blind follower of the Audi marque either.

Now im a pretty level headed person, and can see that this being an audi forum is largely going to be biased towards Audi to some degree or other. Does that make people BMW haters, no of course not.

Is it that hard to understand that the majority of people came here to share a passion, not to throw mindless insults? Ok, some people have issues aswell, but constructive people give advice, non-constructive people say "Bah, Audi is ***** etc etc"

I have a real problem with the "Moderator" dropping little digs in to people who make pro Audi comments, and then "Thanking" people who bash the marque. It comes across as... for the want of a better phrase "**** stirring"

The ideal moderator does not get involved in bun fights, does not disclose opinion, and certainly does not stoke the fire.

I know you probably wont take any of this in. But thats what i think about your attitude.

I'd love a reasonable response...

Regards

I thought the thread was perfectly reasonable, myself.
There are always people looking to move on, and the 3 series is often discussed as a logical possibility.
FWIW, I often see Audi discussed on BMW forums too.

If thats some sort or reply to me, then the point i was trying to get across flew right over your melon.:tocktock:

However; if it was a general statement, please ignore the above. :)
