NGK ignition coils. Anyone used them?

Just about to order some NGK PFR7S8EG spark plugs from Opie with 20% off. They also have NGK ignition coils with the same discount. As my original coils have two original VAG, one Bosch and one no brand I wanted to change them.

Has anyone used NGK ignition coils before? Any issues?

What's the purpose of using the R8 Coil Packs?
Is it an aesthetic thing or are they a better performer?
