Hi All,

I've been looking at RS3's recently but before I can do anything I would ideally need to sell my S3 first - just not sure what it's worth?!

It's absolutely immaculate with 27k on the clock, recently been serviced with new rear brakes, recently had Michelin ps4s' fitted and has a full Audi service other than the last one which was carried out at a reputable Audi specialist.

The options are:

Audi Exclusive Colour - Nogaro Blue
LED Matrix headlights
Black pack with black roof rails
19" option alloys
Tech pack high
B&O
Parking sensors f&r
Adaptive cruise control
Hill hold assist
Folding mirrors
Auto Dim Mirrors
Genuine carbon mirror cases

Any thoughts would be much appreciated! :)

What year is it and variant and a photo would help but in my experience its always best to get a online valuation from the likes of Autotrader mate and add a few hundred on top

Yep the precise age of the car is kinda critical when looking for a valuation. :)

Sorry guys, it's a sportback on a 64 plate I believe. Thanks @jassyo06 - I'll take a look!
Off the top of my head I'd be looking for around £20k for it? Maybe slightly more but condition of the car determines the price mate as does tyres and of course the factory fitted options

Mines a 2015 Saloon. 30,000 miles. For a laugh I entered my reg into WBAC the other week. Came back as £16,500 lol.

Is the RS3 at a dealer? Will they not give you a part ex price for yours?

Privately, I'd expect £20-22k, but with a market filled with 2nd hand S3's it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Seams the price of new cars are reaching ever increasing highs, while the value of second hand metal seams to be very low. With any new S3 being around £40k, a good spec second hand S3 should reach £20k+ IMHO.

Thanks for your advice! I know, they're coming back so low it's laughable. The RS3 I've seen is at a dealer but they offered me such a low offer I would rather keep it, as it is worth way more and wants for nothing.

Not many S3 sportbacks out there with the spec and desireabilty of your car mate, l would expect that it would sell quickly...... Majority of S3 sportbacks on sale. . similar age will have less spec and more mileage

Completely agree, I can't find anything comparable out there. Watch this space!

How badly do you want an RS3? What is the spec of the RS3?

You have a very nice spec S3, and what (above the extra power and sound) will the RS3 bring? Yes it might be newer, but it's really the same car. Why not get your S3 chipped with an upgraded clutch (if a manual) and it'll be just as quick as the RS3.

I like to check WBAC whenever I've got a new car just out of curiosity....and I've always found them to be very low with what they offer for higher value nearly new cars.
Mine is an 11 month old S3 Saloon Black Edition done less than 4000 miles and they have just offered £27215....but would still try their damndest to knock money off at the appointment.

It's an itch I want to scratch... For me it's not all about the power, I prefer the slightly wider, more aggressive look and the sound of that engine. I had thought about doing exactly that, but if I upgrade the power, then want bigger brakes, exhaust, styling etc etc I wouldn't be far from the price I'm paying for the RS3... It's something I've contemplated over and over in my head though!

PFL/FL RS3 is a completely different animal to a PFL/FL S3 mapped or not

I've driven a PFL RS3, and yes you can tell it's different to an S3. Not massively IMO. It just depends on the individual and how much they are will to pay to get into an RS3. Only difference with the interior is an RS3 badge where the S3 badge was.

I did the sums on an RS3 Saloon, and figured that it wasn't worth over double what my S3 is worth. But I suppose if you `really` want something badly enough then money is less of a concern. I suppose it's also what you use your car for. I mainly use mine driving over the A66 to the lakes or up the A1 to the Northumberland coast. And RS3 would bring very little extra for me, which made it not worth the upgrade.

Everyone has different need, wants, and uses for their cars.

For those interested here's a quick photo of the car. Photos don't do the colour any justice!

I agree with @wab172uk

I believe the FL RS3 is way overpriced for what it is - an old car now. Had the RS3 been available in the saloon when I got mine, I would've bought one.

I toyed with the idea of chopping my car in for one, but couldn't justify the cost to change for a model that is about to be replaced. I'm Looking at B9 RS4's now instead as I need the practicality of the boot space in the Avant.

That looks stunning. Noggy is one of the best blues you can get, and I don’t think I’d personally chop your S3 in for an RS3. Now if your S3 was a standard paint and the RS3 was a Noggy paint, then totally go for it. I think the options would be the deal breaker for wanting to change IMO.

Thanks! It would definitely need to be a well spec’d rs3 to make me change!

I was referring to the age of the chassis, the MQB in its current guise has been around since 2012.

I agree the B9 RS4 doesn't sound great like the B8, but I'm not bothered tbh and I think it's a cracking looking motor.

To give you an idea try tootle https://www.tootle.co.uk/ just an email address and a few pictures will get you some quotes from dealers...dead easy to use, no phone calls or hassle.

Or for instant quick quotes try these, I found them to be about average:
https://www.fow.co.uk/part-exchange
https://www.thecarpeople.co.uk/part-ex
https://www.arnoldclark.com/sell

They are doing themselves in! It just means that more and more people will keep hold of their current car for longer and just buy an extended warranty.
