AndyMac Stealth Sub Install

I am new to the site, and just wanted to give my thanks to Andy Mac and C following a SS install recently in my A3. Following a lot of research I decided to give Andy a shout at the beginning of the month for more information on the SS. Firstly he gave excellent advice on parts and prices, and a decent timeframe to get things built (from first contact install was 2 weeks later). He let me decide exactly what I needed - no pressure, and gave impartial information on what he could do for me.

On the day (following decent directions to his place) Andy and C were very hospitable and Andy cracked on with the job at hand straight away. The job took about 4 hours and was a better install than you would get from a specialist, as he took his time and had his technique down - no joke!

The sub enclosure is a proper professional job (excellent finish and bomb-proof build) and the sound quality has been a revelation. Once that bass was taken away from the cabin speakers they sounded so much clearer and picked up a lot more detail from all types of recordings. Obviously you can't compare the sub to a massive boot filler, but if you're after an upgrade that will provide excellent sound across all frequencies then this is the one to go for. The bass is now very tight and punchy - goes much deeper and is a lot louder.

Once again, I can't recommend Andy and his SS enough. If he's got the time and you want one, just do it. You wont regret it! In my opinion, for the money it's the best upgrade you can get from a standard setup.

Requires a seperate 300W RMS amp to run it, usually hidden inside the rear quarter panel, so very neat and tidy, and retains bootspace.

It's sounds better than standard BOSE, like it has a 10" sub in the boot, despite being only 6.5", and it does have a limit on frequency though, so some music loses out.

I used a RF amp, and a Bass controller, so I could fine tune it from the boot with everything in situ, it's excellent and tight for most music at medium to loud levels.

Could expand on the last bit, whats an RF amp and bass controller and what have you used.

a 6.5 wont be able to play as low freq as a 10/12/15 etc.

bigger the sub the lower it will play usually. 6.5 should be nice and punchy tho.

Raggae type music with long low notes loses out imo, it makes the notes, but doesn't quite match the mid and treble from the rest of the setup, as the factory headunit Bass setting is set to -3 or -4 for it to work properly. I listen to a mixture of Pop, Rock and Dance music, and it's good enough for my needs, not shaking the doors of other peoples car, a very clear setup, not muffled Bass from chav setups.

Andymac has made the SS the same size as the standard Bose sub, so you can still fit you existing changer on top, but you need double sided foam, as you lose the metal brackets with the SS in situe.

I can do it if you can get down to Southampton, or many on here have DIY'd it as full instructions are provided.
It'll cost around £300 depending on Bose or non Bose, £350 fully installed.
It includes the stealth sub enclosure, JL Audio sub, fitting brackets, Alpine V12 amp, RCA adapter loom, power cables and all wiring.

It takes 4 hours, I use V12 MRV-F405's or 400's for the non Bose and MRV-T505's for Bose (as you only need to power the sub on Bose setup).
