So this morning an on coming car decided to drift slightly in to my lane causing me to take evasive action which meant hitting the kerb or carrying on and loosing a wing mirror or worse. I chose the first option and the result is some nasty kerb damage and a chunk out of the sidewall
What's anyones experience of having this type of damage repaired, does it yield good results and what kind of prices? I've emailed a couple of places for quotes but yet to hear back. I'm having the tyre replaced tomorrow as although not down to the canvas it's a big chunk removed.

Actually - if you have sidewall damage, the tyre would be a write off anyway.
I have some wheel damage similar to that on my nearside front. I just rubbed it down and touched up with some silver paint from Halfords. It's not perfect by any means but will do for now.
But I did hit a pothole very hard and actually distorted one of my wheels. My local tyre place, that was replacing the tyre, had leaflets of a local place that did alloy repairs. They got it nice and round again for about £80.
They had pics on their leaflet of before and after wheel damage quite a bit worse than yours and it looked perfect.

Hm, that is repairable but I'd say it's on the line for being perfect again, there will be plenty of filler in there.

Whereabouts are you based?

If I were you, get a spare off eBay. You can pick up a set of those wheels for in excess of £400 now, very cheap. When I were involved in an incident and mine got damaged, I bought one for eBay with a brand new tyre for £200. I now have an 18" spare wheel in the garage for any punctures, much better.

Most wheel repairers won't look at "diamond cut" wheels so you'll need to find a specialist. I did exactly the same as you and my local wheel repairer sent my wheel to Pristine Wheels near Milton Keynes (‭+44 1908 282628‬) and it cost £85 plus VAT for removal of tyre and repair. They did a perfect repair.

Thanks all, I'm based in Southampton and the local mobile repair man has pointed me to a local company that does refurbish diamond cut alloys as he can't fix them. If I can get it done for around £80 I'd be happy with that. Getting a wheel off eBay did cross my mind but I'll be trading the car in for a new A4 in a month or two, so just want to spend as little as possible to make good so it does not hit my trade in price.

Ah right, I have a good guy in Cardiff but well out of reach for you.

Retail for a diamond cut refurb is normally £120. I can get them done for £80 mates rates, if you get one for that price then you've done well.

I agree with you, if you're trading it in then just get it refurbished as it is all Audi would do. I wonder how much Audi would take off your PX for a damaged wheel? Maybe worth asking, they might charge less.

I'm also based near Southampton, and have been recommended both these companies, but I have no experience with either:-
