I had Koni kit on my old Escort RS Turbo, I must say it was excellent, but I haven't had them on an Audi so I can't say for sure about them on these vehicles.
 
For £400 I'd personally just go with good coilovers, if you dont wanna go that low just have them adjusted fully up. What is it about coilovers that don't entice you?
 
Too harsh for our crappy roads IMO, did have them on my old A3 T sport, but they were only the cheap jom ones, which are good value.
 
Ive got Koni STRT shocks (orange ones) with Eibach springs. Really comfy and awesome in the twistys. Shocks are gas filled as well !
Eibachs dont lower by much mind but thats not what I was after. They drop it maybe 15mm (eibach reckon 20/25 I think?)
 
Had coilovers in the past on my Civic, they were Avo ones but had no end of trouble going through 2 sets (changed on warranty) the first set. So put me off abit. But did like that you could get the ride height just where you wanted it.
