Remember this is an engine issue and not a car platform issue, so depending on when Audi started fitting the altered/improved versions of that engine into A6 will be when this problem stopped for A6s.
I'd have to say, now that you know of this problem, and you can't find out definitively when these engine design was sorted out away from this issue, I'd avoid buying an Audi - if Audi is being devious about revealing any of this, I'd be avoiding them, plenty other car manufacturers ready to give you a car for your money.
Not e2e but didn't see anything specific to my situ. The A6 section query I've posted seems to suggest the position I've said above. If true then maybe ok. I own a b7 with ea113 so I'm going to see the a6 later today so can visually looking.
My understanding is it will be the same engine but 168 power version. Whereas my b7 cab is 198
Hi, new to the forum. I just bought a 2010 Audi A4 2.0 TFSI and consuming about a litre if oil every 240 miles. Called Audi UK and was reffered to Alan Day VW City in London. Took the car to them and they topped up the car and told me to drive 600 mikes or wgen the add a litre oil light comes up. After driving 240 miles the light came up took the car back to Alan Day VW London. After checking they called and said that I did not drive the 600 miles they have asked me to drive. Also they they put on the report that they do not believe the car is not consuming that much oil but they did topped it up with 0.7 litre of oil. All they did was checked for any leaks and now they want me to drive another 600 miles or when the light comes on and take the car back to them.
It is a BS that they do not believe and ask you to drive another 600 miles. If they do not believe why they ask from you again, they must identify it instead. I get a bad smell on this case.

Update to my situation, I drove 660 miles on the stage 1 of the test and during this I kept a close watch of the oil meter and it just didn't budge. On hitting 660 miles I booked it back in for stage 2 of which they informed me it only used 1/2 a litre of oil. Delighted to say it passed!
I am slightly miffed that you are delighted it passed?
Unless of course you went through all the palava on getting the consumption test done for some kind of peace of mind that the dealer assured you!
Half a litre in 660 miles IS excessive.
Do not be fooled.
After the repair,, if you had the repair, you will not use a drop of oil.
Fact end.
Being content with using half a litre every 660 mile is not good.
Or have I mis read your post
Doh fat finger typo!! Should have read 1/5 of a litre which equates to 0.2ml as per what the technician stated. Furthermore, I had it done for a peace of mind, didn't cost me a penny either.
Maybe 1/5 litre is 0.2 litre, and not 0.2 milli litres!
Edit:- from Mobzor's posting, it makes it sound like Audi is saying, "own an Audi 2.0TFSI - come and get the oil consumption checked FOC for your peace of mind" - I can't see that happening, or am I wrong now that we are in the season of goodwill?
Is everyone else getting plagued by Audi comms and publications, a charm offensive?
Hi all, new to this thread
Question toward the people that got free repair recently, what criteria did Audi apply before allowing it, e.g. max mileage, age, etc? I just got a 2011 A4 which burns 1l per 800km and I''m trying to get it fixed but the best Audi would offer me in Bulgaria is 20% discount on the parts (not counting the work). I just want to make sure they are not discriminating. Second question, did you get a warranty on the repair and has anyone experienced problems after the engine rebuilding? It is a complex process and I'm worried people will mess it up and I've read horror stories of engines stalling shortly after being rebuild.
The criteria to warrant a repair is, proof of using the correct oil.
Receipts to back up that the oil being used is of correct rating, but you do not need a full audi service history as such, just an up to date and correct service history.
The loop hole audi UK were using was, if you could not prove what oil has being used, then who knows what oil has been used? Regarding the repair, I believe it is down to the dealers discretion as to what level of discount or repair is offered.
This is why it is also better to get someone on board , audi UK for us in the UK,
So, before approaching a dealer, in order to have a bit of clout behind you, give Audi Bulgaria a call, give them a sob story and get them on board and try and get them to contact the dealer on your behalf.
The repair, whatever type they do, pistons and such or complete engine replacement will have a 2 year warranty only on parts changed.
Thanks for the info Chez!
I did contact the official dealer first, then contacted Audi central (Germany) and they redirected me back to the same official dealer.
They did offer me a 20% discount but that still means I'll have to pay about 85% of the total myself which is huge and I might be better off selling this model and buying the 2012 one that (I hope) doesn't have this issue (right?). I haven't been able to win anything more despite my best efforts and (absolutely true) sob stories. I started reading a lot about the problem on internet and how people got it fixed with greater involvement from the dealer/Audi. Also came across some people that had problems after the repairs. That is why I posted the questions above. Trying to make sure I'm not getting ripped off and I'm not replacing one problem for another without warranty.
Was looking at purchasing a 2011 A4 Dynamik 2.0 tfsi. This thread is certainly putting me off it! Can anyone tell me how much the repair costs? The one I am looking to buy has limited service history (4 services), 52000 miles on the clock. I can't see Audi covering any costs tbh.
New to the forum but any help or advise greatly appreciated, I will try and sum up my problem bought Audi A5 2010 plate tfsi privately was assured by buyer that Audi had covered the cost of an engine rebuild , I called his audi dealer where the work was supposedly taken place and was assured it had.
Few weeks later I notice high oil consumption so go to my local Audi dealer and explain the situation , they look on system and say it never had an engine rebuild , I call back to the dealer and this time I am told that the person I spoke to had made a mistake and that he was talking about a warranty that was covered by audi relating to an oil separator replacement (I understand this is also done to see if it fixes the problem )I also called the person who sold me the car and he said that he was told by the dealer that it was done , so now my audi garage has done both tests parts 1 and 2 and the car has failed it done 301 miles before needing oil.
They then find out that at some stage the car had been chipped before mine or the previous owners time and Audi will not help with the rebuild cost , I didn’t even know what chipping meant , my question is has anybody had any repair like this done under warranty if it was chipped, I don’t understand why the earlier repair was covered by audi but this isn’t? surely at that point they accepted responsibilty for the problem , I don’t know where to turn I dont’ have £5000 to get this done I am so upset by the whole thing .
That is so good to hear ! It makes me feel there might be some help out there for meI had the fix done on my 2010 Avant a couple of years ago. It had a Revo stage 1 map 100k on the clock and audi paid for all the work without any issues. The remap has nothing to do with the oil consumption issue your garage is trying any excuse not to do the work..Mine was done at Vindis Audi Huntingdon if that helps
