I'm guessing, audi only replaced the Pistons and rings and maybe seals without doing any other work line re-honing block and refresh/replace crank, hence its still a problem. I found speaking to someone else other day that they had a rebuild and it was clearly making a tapping noise.
I don't think half the dealers know the proper procedure to rebuild a block imo.
Hence I was pleased to have a replacement engine.
I don't know. I just want to get rid of it.
I almost required a new engine last year when the bearings to the fly wheel failed, knocking out the timing. My saving grace was that I was stationary when it happened. With a good will gesture the repair cost me £1,500 rather than £9,000 for a new engine!
