K04 Turbo Replacement

So im considering replacing my turbo in my BAM s3 because when i replaced my TIP with a silicone one i noticed a bit of side to side play. Since i bought it it hasnt really boosted right so im running out of things to replace.

My question is, should i avoid buying a second hand unit?

Ive also seen a lot of K04 turbos on ebay brand new for reasonably money but ive no idea what brand they are. Would they just be cheap chinese ****e that i should avoid?

or where would be best to get a good refurbed one.

Also interested in this! My S3 ran a poor map for at least 7 years before I owned it, all boost and no fuel. Its had a hard life and sure a new turbo is on the cards soon...

Certainly avoid the chinese ones. oem K04 is still a lot of money.

Maybe you should consider going the hybrid route, usually most ppl go that route when their current turbo is up for a change.
