It's gotta be said though; if there was a colour to re-spray a recently sprayed car to, Dolphin Grey's a good candidate. I kept an eye out for one in Dolphin when I was shopping for my Black A3... I've always had a big soft spot for Dolhpin Grey, it's just a shame (well, for buyers anyway) that it's rare as rocking-horse muck and even more so on A3s (S3 still a little while off for me - quote me sad...). Our own rickparmar made an awesome find imho.

I have some stupid colour that isn't Dolphin Grey or Black, it's Volcano black or something, which is a very dark grey metallic.

Doh. Thought I'd read it was Dolphin and I didn't spot it from his avatar/pic... I always struggle to tell Dolphin/Mineral apart unless in the flesh! The last time I was at Preston Audi (which come to think of it, is now a hell of a long time ago /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif) they had a Dolphin S3 in the back and I was quite upset to find another being prepared for sale. I hate insurance companies.

EDIT: Having looked again at his pic, it's clear I am a dope; it's a good deal too light to be Dolphin, having said that a bigger pic does make it easier for me!
 
lol, yup mine is mineral grey but i do love the coulour,

its different and looks nice at night

The actual paint code is LX7Z...this will be what is on the vehicle data sticker of a dolphin grey S3/A3. The dealer order code is F5F5...which is of no use when trying to get hold of the colour!

Saw a nimbus MK2 golf Rallye at GTI international in that colour with a red TT interior and polished TT wheels.

Very cool.

The car you are refering to is PVW's project car from a few years back and as you say the colour only works on certain cars /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Lovely! Miss my Rallye a bit now. Still see it most weeks though as I sold it to a mate.

Would love to get one back one day
