what is the danger or harm to the engine if your dump valve is fitted to the hotside rather than the cold side ? anybody please cheers

The dump valve is on the hot side as standard anyway...

i fitted a bailys atmospheric dv about 8 months ago and somebody on here the other day told me i had fitted it wrong or maybe im confussed is this the hot side or the cold side PC180025

That's fitted to the hot side - as in before the intercooler(s) have a chance to cool the air. Seems a little bit of a odd place to put it, usually on the hot side it is just after the turbo on the hard charge pipe, up at the top where you have blocked off with a red pipe.

Its a atmospheric valve regardless of hows its fitted so get it binned off for a recirc valve... and while you are at I would refit it to the std position...

Jay im not been funny but have you got a t piece between the fpr and the baileys dv? If not your cars going to be running into alot of problems.

I believe hes being sarcastic instead of adding anything of use to your problem

Fuel pressure regulator, its the thing on the end of the fuel rail!

What he said^^

I've never seen such a bizzare combination of original boost pipes, wrong dump valve and wrong location.

You've basically blocked off the right port, fitted the wrong valve and then fitted it to what would be the correct location if you had a K03s and a front mount intercooler.

Very strange.

Did you follow pictures on the internet or did somebody do this for you?

dani_b19 what does frp mean ?please

A couple of pics to help you out....

The thing circled in blue is the FPR don think its a good idea to T anything off the same hose.

From the green circle it looks like a black hose is coming out of a T.

An idea on what to do with your DV....lol

yes there is a t piece between the f p r its just black at the other side its been running like this for ages now i thought the whole thing about dump valves was to get the air out of the system quickly ? so why does it matter if the air has not had chance to cool down before it reaches the intercooler dump valve , dumps the air yes ! its run fine up to now so i think i will just leave it as it is rather than listening to so many different opinions at the end of the day its all personal choice if it goes bang who cares its only an engine but cheers for the advice people

i thought that joining this forum would be good but it turns out your all a bunch of dicks who know **** all well not all but most so seeya

Ill let 16Klappe step in here....lol :undwech:

Top work, so you join a forum ask a question and then call all the people who try to help dicks!

I think most people will whole heartedly laugh their socks off if your car does go boom.

Dump valves are designed to release the pressure when the throttle plate closes as this can lead to turbo damage... while there is nothing fundamentally wrong with where you have put the valve it seems a little bit odd as there is no real advantages here... even the much discussed cold side relocation is not really the best place for a dump valve... the OE position closer to the turbo is the better place but for practical reasons it can be mounted elsewhere (as I have done on mine...)

The problem with yours is centred around two things... firstly, tapping the vacuum from the FPR feed is not best practice... its very important that the FPR pipework is 'reliable' otherwise there is a risk of the fuelling going lean if its integrity fails...

Secondly... atmos valves aren't suited to std VAG ECU's... the air entering the charge system is metered via the MAF... the ECU has calculated how much fuel to inject for the correct AFR... venting this air to atmos means the engine runs rich... this can cause misfires, soiling of the plugs promoting multiple misfires and poor running, stalling of the engine etc...

You posted asking for advice and due to the way you have applied your modifications you got some advice...

Its your choice at the end of the day but there it is... you will have to excuse Jardo, subtle is not a specialism of his but the advice is sound and correct..

While you may not care about your engine going bang there are others that will and this forum is not about giving poor advice (although the delivery can vary :))

You've asked what the danger or harm is of mounting the DV in the hotside (which is the standard location as VAG intended), we've told you there is no problem and that actually you have some more serious issues which need to be addressed and your response is that it's been fine for a year and if the engine goes bang then who cares. If that is actually your attitude then why the question in the first place? It would appear that I as a total outside care more about the condition of your engine than you do?

Your definition of fine is not in line with more knowledgeable members of the community's definition of fine. If you can't accept our help in whichever form it comes then that is your loss, no need to leave the forum over it though. Maybe if you stuck around you'd learn more about your engine and get it running better? (because it won't be with an atmospheric valve routed like that)

Your choice mate. :beerchug:

****** the popcorn was ready and i was expecting a Jardo Attack and...................................................nothing but nice ness :(

Lou have you tied Jardo up and pretending to be him????

mine was in a similar position to that when i bought the car (but with the 4mm line going into a different place i believe) binned off the baileys and bought a forge FMDV008 and put it back to the standard position for these engines. noticed and instant difference, ran alot smoother

nice attitude................

now have a good look at how your valve is likely to be performing... Used Bailey atmos dv bubble test | Facebook

atmos = an air leak and poor fuel trims, which is why recirc dv's are fitted as std and advised

Well congratulations all you have done is made your self look like a **** why ask a question if you don't care about the answer you get? Is it because you didn't hear what you wanted to? You will get no we're on this forum with your attitude and if you give people chance and listen this forum is actually very useful!

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
