I have now owned my nearly new 1.8 TFSi Black Edition for over a month. My previous car was a 1.8T Quattro so engine wise i haven't moved up or down! But the new car has less BHP(160). ( why didn't they keep at at 180!!!!!!!)

My question is, the new car doesn't feel as quick as the old quatrro which is understandable as it has less bhp but what is strange is if I am in second gear and in low revs the car seems to struggle as if it requires extra power to move. The previous 1.8T had no problem moviong around in any gears at low revs. Also with the TFSi engine i never really feel the turbo kick in, the previous car would get to about 3000 revs and then you would feel a good kick!

Is this just the way the TFSi engines work do they require extra power?

I would think that less bhp,and more weight would be at the bottom of the problems,as well as the engine mapping.

Engines and characteristics are completely different ...

i would have to agree.
i had the 1.8 20vt previously and it sounded better.
these tfsi engines are missing 1 valve per cylinder bank.
but find the tfsi engine more aggressive thann the older 1.8 varianat.
its also moe economical.
