Relpacing clocks

Im thinking of replacing my clocks in my 99 A4 2.8. My DIS was missing pixles so myself and a mate who can solder tried to replace the screen ourselves. Basicly we messed it up and now my whole screen lights up red. Thinking its messed up the pcb as he used quite a hot soldering iron. What im wondering is what other part numbers if any will fit. Mine are 8DO919930N and have the blue and green pugs plus the brown middle one. Also is the milage stored in the clocks or on the ECU? I know i will have to get them coded for the imobiliserbut will the milage need correcting too?
Think its bad that so many of these units fail! Mines only done 85k miles and the concert radios knackered as well.

when you get the immo coded they will do the miles aswell
or they should do

Try ECU testing, or one of the others. You may not have stuffed it totally, and they may be able to recover it - call and speak to them first.

If not, then you need VAG-Tacho, or similar to code the dash/keys/ecu. VAG-Tacho will also do the milage for you.
