So I took my headlights out at the weekend to try and sort a few things out, and my eyes were opened to the below issues:
- both headlight adjuster cogs are broken on both headlight housings, the plastic has become brittle and spins on the spindle, and one has snapped off completely.
- both locating clips for the auto levelling motor in both headlights have snapped.
I've spoken both to TPS and my local Audi Stealership today, and both are saying to fix this, I'll have to purchase a whole new headlamp for both sides, which cost £418.00 ex vat each - understandably, I'm not up for paying this amount. My current bulbs are fine, my electrics are fine, the motors themselves are fine, the ballasts are all fine too. I simply can't justify paying this much money for things I don't need.
Both TPS and the Stealership are saying that I should try breakers yards, and online parts breakers, but I'm not really up for this considering the parts I'd most likely get, if I can even find them, will be just as old and knackered as mine.
So really I'm looking for some advice - should I fork out to get a new headlamp either side, or is there any other way around this?
For reference, my car is a 2001 facelift S3 8L.
Thanks in advance for your help.
