Opinions on 18" Tyres

I am just about to fit my RS4 wheels to my avant after having them powder coated. They are an ET33 fitment so will be nicely situated in the arch.

My question is this standard size was 235/45/17

S4s seem to use 235/40/18, but to be honest i have never seen the reason for the 235 fitment.

I am seriously contemplating 225 width due to them being more widely used and so cheaper.

My question is really should i go for the 40 or 45 profile on a 225 tyre?

One will be slightly bigger and the other smaller when looking at diameter.

Opinions please

Stick with the 40n profile, the 225 will look fine.

THats what i was thinking 644 mm original diam, 637 with 40 profile, 659mm with 45 profile.

The 40 will look spot on as the 45 will look to ballonish.

i'm running 235x40x18's on the front and 245x40x18's on the rear cos that's what was on the alloys when i bought them.replaced the fronts today at £120 a pop - ouch!!!!
