How do you know if your injectors need doing? Mine has covered 40,000 miles since new in 2003 and as far as I can tell is running just fine.
lol on it like a car bonnet....To be fair it is straight forward......
I just pulled the clip of the FPR and pulled the FPR out with some cloth in my hand ....very little fuel spill.
Undo the injector wiring connectors i just pulled all the little wire clips out.
2 alan cap head bolts to remove then just ease the fuel rail up out of the manni,
All fuel lines in and out remain connected,
Just pull the injectors out of the fuel rail and clean them
refitting is the same backwards..
Estimated time....1 hour back on the road....
pics to follow next one i do .....sandip?
At the risk of being called a numpty (there we go...), what & where is the FPR?
Dave why have you got your boost pipe on the FPR line! you can use the other line which goes into the buttom left side of the manifold.
I did this today using the method in the youtube video - worked great.
3 of the 4 injectors were not spraying a mist at all, just a single jet out at one point - this has to be a good piece of maintenance for everyone ?
I also cleaned out the complete fuel rail and FPR which was full of little pieces of fuel hose and general gunk, replaced the fuel hoses while I was at it. In total took about 3.5 Hours and very happy now to know all of that is clean and working properly !
i just ran it on the extended cycle 480 secondsI've just bought my cleaner - Maplins cheap one but hopefully it will do the trick.
S3Dave
Sorry to spam your thread but how many runs through the cleaner did it take? Mine's a 1.6i but hopefully it won't be too painful to remove and replace.
So... If anybody near me gets one... I'd be obliging if you would share the wealth
I'll have a cleaner in the next few weeks mate. You're welcome to pop over again one Sunday morning for a quick spring clean!
is it ok to do more than one at a time? and do they need to be left to dry?
Do the lot together just shake any excess fluid out...then refit
