Please guys can someone tell me if this instruction i found on the net below will work with my facelift, W reg A4, or will I mess up the immobiliser.

Procedure

AUDI A8/S8: Programming the Key Fob

Remote Control Programming (1997 ON)

Procedure

1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.
2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second key.
3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn will sound once.
4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding
procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

NOTE : When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure
is the same, except you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the
different remote.
For example : If programming 2 remotes press the unlock button twice with
a 1 second interval between each press, repeat for 3 and 4 remotes.

5. Switch Ignition OFF.
6. Remove key from ignition and check for operation.
7. The coding procedure can be repeated up to 4 times for additional remotes.
8. The ignition must be switched OFF between programming each remote
control.

Remote Control Erasing (1997 ON)

Procedure

1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.
2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second
key.
3. Press the remote control unlock button 5 times in 1 second intervals.
A short horn will sound.
4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate memory
erase.
5. Switch ignition OFF, all remotes are now erased.

Thanks for any advice gents

Now I have found this on the net, it is for an A4, has anyone tried this? My remote control/key fob has stopped working it has new batteries.

Hope someone can advise.

You'll need two keys.
1) Open the driver door, turn the ignition switch to on, but do not start
the car.
2) Close and lock the driver door with the other key (this should be the
proper key and not just the valet key - I used the valet key first and
wondered why the programming didn't work).
3) Hold down both buttons on the fob for about 5 seconds. The lights
should flash and the alarm horn should honk.
4) Open the door, remove the key from the ignition. Close and lock the
door with the key.
worked for my 99 a4

Will this work on a b5.5 passat my remote fob opens the doors but immo light comes on when trying to start it . Ive been using the normal key to start ?

You need to code the immo chip to the car, which requires the SKC and vagcom.

Remote is completely seperate to the immo.

Thanks guys, Axios did you use the first or second method

That one.

The procedure is to code the lock and unlock function of the remote not the immob.

The immob light comes on when the little chip inside the remote (up the front near the blade) is faulty or not programed to the car.
It will need to be taken to Audi or i think VCDS can do it, to get it programed to the car.

No, it's for coding fob to open doors, you'd need vag tacho/auto locksmith or dealer to code to immo

Well I have tried both methods and they do not work on my car, any idea's what else to try next?. Could it be something in the alarm unit it self? How can you tell if the remote key fob has broken, or do i have to take it to a garage for that

Given it wont pair up, i'd suspect the fob before the alarm unit.

You presumably have two keys, as you need two to do the programming? will neither of them program?

Yes I have two keys one is the remote "flick Key" fob and the other is just a normal key. The reason I asked about the alarm unit is because if the alarm goes off the hazards flash but there is no sound at all. But that could just be the siren is broken?

The siren is busted, but that wont affect the pairing.

Which key did you have in the ignition? Is the key you had in the ignition capable of starting the car, ie has a matching immo transponder?

Yes I had the Remote key "flick Key" in the ignition, and the normal key in the door. Both keys unlock and can start the car.

The key you want to program needs to be in the door.
I assume you want the flip key to unlock. so put the non-flip key in to the ignition and the flip key in the door and try again.

My car never beeps when I set the keys up but the siren works, well, the horn in the back.
