driving along......nice polished motor and some **** goes up my ****.

I think, tosser so pulled over, waited for him to start to go past and then put my foot down in third, and he absolutely flew past me!!!!!! Ibiza cupra R.

I was shocked and hurt, HURT! some bad boy handed it to me. Shocking, i'm gonna blame my driving and say i was in the wrong gear or sumin, either that or he had his motor uprated big styleeeeeeee,

stupid cheap Seats :faint:

Ibiza Cupra R for definate? and not just the Cupra?

Yup, you're getting your *** handed to you on a plate, and thats probably the standard car..

1.8T (180Bhp standard) in 1200Kg car.

it was the cupra..........really didnt think they were that fast. thought it would be similar to mine coz mine is tuned,,,,,,obviously wrong. I feel Blue :crying:

the speed it seemed i would say it was tuned so 200 bhp or more in the light car would make sense, didnt really think about the weight that much, i'l look out for him next time its raining and try again. lol

hahahaha

get used to it mate.....

an ibiza cupra R with 180bhp and non of the 4wd losses or mega weight of the TQ is always going to eat the poor Tq in a straight line.....

luckily for you, there were only 75 of these imported to the UK, and only around 50 remain.

that said, watch out for beamers too.....

i got shown up big time last week by a 330d

wots the CAI you got on your motor? surely the KO3s is whats in my car? and it cant be tuned much more than 230bhp if u push it? some of the BMWs are sleepers i realised a few weeks back......cupra just looked old in my mirror, i wanted to buy one of those but didnt as i found then hard to find and rare, obviously a reason.....never mind, too small for me anyways

well, what year is your TQ? some of the older TQ's had a ko3 turbo still, and 198bhp and 217lb ft sure sounds like the mapped figures of a ko3 to me, not a ko3S....

the ko3S can be taken up as high as 250bhp (see recent thread from Dave_bayern -254bhp), although keeping it reliable your looking at 230-240bhp.

many of the older pre facelift TQ's had the ko3 turbo and not the ko3S.

the CAI im currently running is a £60 ebay jobby, but it really does appear to be just as good as the carbonio really, the filter element is just about identical, and the alloy pipe is really great quality.

that said, im upgrading to a ko3S next week, and ill be changing the filter to an apexi dry cone filter so i dont have any maf issues with the oiled filter.

do me a favour then and keep me posted bout the k03s........why not get a k04? like on the s3. whats the work costing you inc turbo etc, i need more power now!!!!

the ko4 would mean getting an S3 fuel rail, new injectors, 4bar FPR, new manifold, new downpipe..... the list goes on.

the ko3S fits to my current manifold, uses my current fuel pump and injectors, and can be used with the standard downpipe.

ive got a forge FMIC, forge TIP, Godspeed FMIC, milltek turbo back exhaust, forge cold side relocation kit, all running with a ko3 053, im im hoping for 240bhp when its mapped in 3 weeks time

what year is your TQ? if its early, it could well be ko3

The k03s is a direct replacement whereas the K04 means changing the injectors along and other parts...someone correct me if wrong (still learning)

mine is an X reg so yeah, pretty early, pre facelift, whats would it cost then for me to do the same as you? (i'm a copy cat)

ps, got sports cat so dont need exhaust and i got forge DV

those ibiza cupra r are rapid i wanted one at one point , are lighter thou , but not that well made

in all fairness i do prefer my car, just teh same as i prefer my car to an old evo or old M3.......doesnt mean i like being slower though. lol

I want a tuned up s3....that would have shown him who was boss

I'm getting some 386cc injectors put in my A4 1.8T, after a new ECU map it will feel like a completely new car.

I'm surprised more people have not done this, injectors are fairly cheap.

Even if you had a tuned S3, the Cupra R would still be making you feel very inadequate.

Its enough of a niche market car to pretty much make sure everyone that owns one has had it remapped, and they have the K03s so it'll map to 220ish Bhp.

Its under 1200kg so less weight to carry, and its been dry and warm everywhere recently, so quite a lot of the time, it'd be faster than the S3 too.

The Ibiza Cupra R's have Brembos as standard too, so it can stop quicker, making a quicker A-B car than the S3.

The Cupra R's are really very good cars.

it wasnt black was it , i sold my cupra r ibiza , had a k04 on it , was about 275bhp , absolutely flew , think its about 290 - 300 now , the kid has put a equal length manifold and loads of other bits on it

i do like em, and that speed must be fun, but it is a go cart so wouldnt be that great and i would end up munching it in a corner. my 4x4 has got me out of some tite spots in the past, nearly drove straight into the side of a bmw yesterday at 50, i just didnt see it. ******** if i know why. it was only my sister screaming at me that made me break and swerve and miss him by inchs, man that was possibly my worst bit of driving ever. 4x4 didnt really help then, lol, ABS did though. breaks arent too bad, could be alot better may upgrade to s3 ones next time

the Ibiza Cupra R only has a Ko3.... nnot the ko3s as most are led to believe

yeah only actuator and software different

Watch for the Fabia Rs too. I had a run with one on the A46 some time ago now.

Thought Mmmm Skoda up my ***, bye bye.. But no, it kept with me for some time. The road was clear so it was only after some time I started to pull away, and I was foot to the floor all the way. My S3 was running standard at the time..

I was gob smacked, being given a good run by a Tdi! Feck!

:)

I can confirm that thye Fabia vRS will give many things a fright!

Not quick off the line...but off roundabouts and out of corners, they fly.

Bear in mind that a simple re-map and a bit of work on the inlet side of things will give 180BHP and up to 330 lb-ft of torque (mostly limited to 280/290 to save killing the standard clutch)

I enjoy a game of seeing who you can leave behind in a cloud of black smoke!

Yup :)

yeah hot hatches nowadays are coming around more and more, i had a mitsubishi colt attack me on the motorway the other day. lol, once again i only lost him after flooring it right through 4th and 5th. all clear private roads of course.........turns out its only a 1.5 turbo but light like the ibiza.

annoying thing was i had just detailed my car and it WAS spotless, i think i must have killed hundreds of ******* flies in a space of a few secons. Why dont they take more care when crossing the road dammit, my mate has a tuned up VRs and i raced him before my car was tuned.....was only 163bhp then thanks to revo detuning it after theat "5 hour free trial" i was fine till 60mph then his torque got the better of me and he cruised past. His was 180 bhp and 300ft/lb. Nice little car

Thats the thing, S3s, A3s and A3Q's are OLD cars now.

Despite the brand, and the performance they had when new, the current trend for manufacturers seems to be a numbers war, so even Corsa VXR's and the like will be faster than you.

Get used to it, you now know the feeling Mk2 Golf GTI owners have....

i played with a focus st170 the other day. that was fun.......and raced the new clio cup sport 197, i kept up with him just but backed off half way through 3rd gear coz it was too fast for the roads in my opinion. not a nutter driver........still a clio at the end of the day, wouldnt wanna be in there in a crash

Why not, most renaults have a 5 star ncap rating. The renault would probably destroy you when it came to the bendy stuff too.

I think the word probably is superfluous here.

theyre not tripods anymore then are they? i just mean i've driven my girlfriends clio and it just does not feel well built, sturdy or safe.....fair enough it wont hurt a pedestrian as much as mine or a landrover but i know i'd still rather be in my car in a crash.......maybe i'm just stupid though, (no need to comment on that  )

I'd agree that manufacturers are coming up with some pretty quick cars nowdays, but I'd disagree that the Corsa will be faster than an S3. The standard numbers for the VXR are less than a standard S3: 189Bhp; 170 Ib-ft torque; 0-60 6.8; and a claimed top speed of 140.

When you factor that a lot of S3's are no longer standard I would find this argument hard to engage, even if the VXR was also non-standard.

Lets wait and see, especially in real driving :)

i'd kill for an S3 modified...........corsa,,,, erm NO! if i pull up to a first date in my car all nice and clean it gets a wow, and most people respect it, pull up in a corsa no matter how fast it is...................its still a corsa

I'd like to drive one of those corsa's, dont really care about the badge other than the fact that if it was my own money i'd be slightly gutted about the crazy depreciation.

Dunno why everybody is so quick to jump on the S3 lovewagon, they look nice, go ok and a re reliable to a point(despite costing a fortune to fix when they do go wrong) But for the money a good facelift S3 costs now there are alot of faster, just as well built cars out there that will put a much bigger smile on your face

Some people are taking the Corsa thing too literally.

The point I was making is that the 8L S3 is an old car, and no longer the performance car it was when it was first released.

Mediocre cars from other manufacturers are now far better vehicles.

For a while, Mk2 Golf owners thought the same thing, I know, because I was one of them, and it wasnt until ten years later, around the time of the Mk4 that everyone finally had to conceed and realise that the Mk2 Golf was old, tired and slow by modern comparisons.

Thats exactly whats happening with the 8L series Audis, but it'll take a while for the badge snobs to realise.

This is exactly why there is no suprise that a Ibiza was faster than the 8L A3 1.8TQ.

I would disagree about the MK2 golf. I still have my '87 Gti and it outperforms so many other newer care on the road. Still handles awesome and pulls like a train but cheap to run. I dont know what else out there in the same class that gives that raw driving experience. I'd rather have a Mk2 than a Mk4 any day. In fact, I am seriously thinking about selling the S3 to go back to it. The S3 sadly has not lived up to my expectations...

I'm not saying the Mk4 was better, it wasn't, not even close.

However, what I am saying is although your Mk2 is a proper, raw driving experience, it simply isnt as fast as many modern cars, they handle better, drive faster and stick to the road way better than the Mk2 does.

Fact.

Basically, the A3/S3 seems to be also undergoing the start of this change, that they are very quickly becoming surpassed by newer cars.

That said, the Mk2 is a better drive than ANY A3/S3, but I would say that as I'm VW biased.
